We stock Stylecraft, King Cole and Sirdar mostly, with some James C Brett. 65 folders of patterns will help find your next project! Button Moon opened on Friday 5th July 2013, selling haberdashery, jars full of buttons, card-making craft supplies, miles of ribbon, wool, embroidery and crochet supplies. Since then we have developed the yarn massively, selling Stylecraft, King Cole, James C Brett and Sirdar.

Beginner Crochet Workshop: 2 sessions - Both 10am-12.30pm. You'll only need 1 session, just pick the date most convenient for you, either Saturday 7th November or Saturday 14th November.
£30pp including all materials and refreshments.
This workshop is perfect for those just starting out with crochet or those wanting to refresh their knowledge. We'll take you step by step from choosing the right materials and equipment, understanding patterns to making your very first crochet stitch. Happy birthday to Button Moon!! 🎂 Well, one of many birthdays actually.

Can you believe that we opened our doors here in Long Eaton FIVE years ago today???

We actually opened our first actual shop back in June 2013 in Arnold market. Having to put pound coins in the meter so the lights stayed on. It was sooooo cold that first winter as the doors had to stay open. I used to go to Whsmith just to warm up a bit. That was more card crafts in there as I had a stationery business previously. Then someone mentioned yarn! So from our little pyramids of Bonus DK...

We then moved into half of the local Post Office. I still remember moving all our stock down the road on an old market barrow 😂. It was OK there but business was slow. Though it did have heating 😁 . Then one day I noticed a shop to let opposite where I had frozen myself in our first shop. So we moved again.

I loved having a 'proper' shop all to myself. Jonathon and I did so many crazy things from there. We organised craft fairs, wedding shows, Christmas markets. We took coaches of ladies to Yarndale and Harrogate. We got our name on the side of a bus. I cant actually mention half of the stuff my crazy husband got up to while we were there but I'm laughing while I'm writing this, just remembering.

Then one day a lady came in and said her local yarn shop was closing. I didn't pay much attention but mentioned it to Jonathon 🤣🤣 and so we were off again!

I didn't even know where Long Eaton was to be honest but we came and had a look around the town. Despite being a market town like Arnold is, I thought it had a very different feel to it. The people seemed different, friendlier in a way. Plus the fact that Jonathons influence was rubbing off on me, Button 4 was born.

We have thoroughly enjoyed being here. Things have changed, as they always do. My lovely neighbour Stuart has retired. Erewash council seem to be on a mission to dig up every road they can. Customers have come and gone. But I have never dreaded coming to work. I am always intrigued as to what my day will bring. I still don't consider myself a 'business woman' as I am far to much of a flibbertigibbet to ever be one. I'm just me 😉 selling yarn and chewing the fat.

Who knows what the future will bring. Times are a changin' as they say. However, I do know that I have a fantastic shop in a fab town and today, I'm doing OK!

Yes, yes, i know I'm a shopkeeper who should use social media to sell, sell, sell.
However, as many of you know, I am a certified Technobimbo and a little bit shy to be honest. So i seriously struggle with that side of things. I see other shops and watch what they do and I suppose wish that I could do that. But at the end of the day I can't.
I will talk the hind legs off a donkey, face to face. I can chat about most things really. I am interested in people.
But pushing sales here there and everywhere just isn't me.
At the end of the day, you know where my shop is. If you want yarn, haberdashery, patterns, buttons and the like then come and see me. I'm here Tuesday to Saturday 0930 till 3.00. If you can get here, call me on 07938966628 and we can try and sort something out.

Obviously, being a one man band most of the time there are occasions where I am ill or have an appointment but generally I am here.

So following on from the I don't do the harsh sell blah, blah. Here is a video I took on my ride into work this morning. I did a diversion through Highfields Park and it was just so beautiful.
