🎃 Single diecorations … or a whole spooky banner? 👀

Meet Trick or Trio — three mischievous little felt characters ready to add a touch of Halloween fun to your home!

🐈‍⬛ A cheeky black cat tucked inside a pumpkin
🦇 A vampire bat sporting a rather splendid witch’s hat
🐸 And a sparkly little frog happily sitting in her bubbling cauldron!

But here’s the fun part…

You can stitch each character as a single hanging decoration, or join all three together to create a wonderfully spooky vertical hanging garland. 🎃🦇🐸

And because the characters can be mixed and matched, there are lots of combinations to play with too!

Trick or Trio is available as a complete sewing kit, a physical pattern, a PDF pattern, and a materials only pack (in case you already have the pattern) so you can choose how you’d like to make your own little Halloween gang. ✂️🧵✨

It's over on Etsy now https://sewthimblewood.etsy.com/listing/4579752674 or use the link in the bio

But wait… there’s more! 👀🎃

One of my favourite things about the new Trick or Trio characters is that they don’t necessarily have to stay where I originally put them!

The little black cat can climb out of her pumpkin and hop into the cauldron…

And the sparkly frog can happily swap places and pop into the pumpkin instead! 🐈‍⬛🐸

And that rather fabulous witch’s hat?

Well… it fits all three characters! 🧙‍♀️✨

So although I designed them as three little Halloween characters, you can mix and match them to create your own combinations.

Maybe next year I'll add extra characters to the mix, who am I missing?

After weeks of drawing, stitching, tweaking, making samples and generally filling my sewing room with tiny bits of felt…

I can finally introduce the third and last character in my brand-new Halloween sewing pattern and kit out now on Etsy!

Meet my favourite, a sparkly little frog sitting happily in her bubbling cauldron! 🐸 This one is adorable, she comes out of the cauldron too.

I always save my favourite till last - (even when I eat my dinner), let me know below who would you stitch first?

Someone else has just flown into Thimble Wood… 🦇👀

Meet character number two!

A cheeky little vampire bat, complete with a rather fabulous purple witch’s hat. 💜🧙‍♀️

Because apparently being a vampire bat wasn't spooky enough… she needed a witch’s hat too!

I absolutely love how these little characters have turned out. There are lots of tiny details to stitch, but they’re designed to be fun rather than frightening.

But there’s still one more character I haven’t shown you. And I'm saving my favourite till last...

Any guesses? 👀

Tomorrow I’ll finally be able to show you the whole Trick or Trio! 🎃🦇🧵

If you can't wait you can always flap over to Etsy now....

Meet the first little character from my brand-new Halloween sewing kit…

A rather mischievous black cat, tucked inside her very own pumpkin! 🧡

I’ve had such fun designing these little characters. I wanted them to feel properly Halloween-ish, but still have that cute, colourful Thimble Wood feel.

And of course, being made from felt means there are lots of lovely little details to stitch, and it's just so very easy!

I’ve been busy drawing templates, choosing colours, testing shapes and making sample after sample until everything was just right.

And this little cat was where the trouble began…

Because once I had made her, I realised she couldn't possibly be left on her own!

So there are two more characters hiding in the dark…

I’ll introduce you to another one tomorrow. 👀 or if you really can't wait nip over to Etsy now to see the whole gang!

Something rather spooky has been going on down in Thimble Wood … 👀🎃

There’s been black felt.

Lots of it.

Purple felt, sparkly bits, tiny pieces of embroidery and a rather suspicious number of eyes have been appearing on my work table. 🧵✨

I’ve been working on something new for Halloween, and as usual, I started with far too many ideas!

I couldn’t decide whether to make a cat… or a bat…a pumpkin or maybe a Cauldron or perhaps something completely different.

So eventually I did what any sensible person would do…

I did it all! 😂

I’ll be revealing the first character tomorrow, and the whole spooky trio will be launching this weekend! 🎃👻🧵

🐴 I thought the Nativity was finally finished… but apparently, I had forgotten a few rather important characters! 👀

Just as I thought I could put my needle down, the requests started coming in again…

“Where’s the donkey?”

And then…

“What about a camel?” 🐪

In fact, the requests became so frequent that I started keeping a little tally chart behind our show stand, carefully recording every person who asked for a donkey or a camel.

Our regular customers thought this was hilarious. They’d wander up to the stand, give me a knowing look and simply say one word…

“Donkey.” 😂

I’m fairly sure anyone listening in without any context would have wondered what on earth was going on!

The truth was, I was deliberately putting them off. I was rather worried about how I was going to make them - especially the camel...

🐑 I really, really didn’t want to make the shepherds… and they ended up being my favourite Nativity characters! 😳✨

It sounds rather terrible, doesn’t it? But it’s true!

After making the Three Kings, Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, the requests started pouring in…

“When are you going to make the shepherds?”

So I started pondering the possibilities. One shepherd? Two? Three?

And, of course, if we were going to have shepherds, we absolutely needed a little sheep too! 🐑

But I had a problem. The Kings had been such fun to design — wonderfully colourful, Away in a Manger had completely different costumes and characters. The shepherds were much more similar, and honestly, I just wasn’t feeling inspired by them at all.

So I gave myself a challenge:

If I was going to make them, I was going to make them ALL different.

Different clothes. Different details. Different little personalities.

And somehow, that was the turning point.

What I thought might be the least exciting part of the Nativity became my biggest sewing kit ever… and, completely unexpectedly, one of my very favourite sets. ❤️

And then there was the little sheep…

Oh, he caused quite a stir! 🐑

We had so many messages asking, “Do you have just the sheep?” that eventually this little fellow had to have a kit all of his own.

So perhaps there’s a little lesson in there somewhere…

Never underestimate a shepherd — or a very small sheep! 🧵✨
