There’s always a moment in a renovation project when things look a little less beautiful before they begin to come back to life.

The scaffolding is going up at our Looe project, and with it comes the start of a much bigger transformation.

I’ve always loved the idea that sometimes things have to be deconstructed to make space for something new. Walls opened, old layers stripped away, structures strengthened and spaces reconsidered — not to erase what was there before, but to give the building the chance to become what it could be.

There will be dust, disruption and plenty of moments when it feels like we’re taking several steps backwards. But beneath all of that, a new home is slowly beginning to emerge.

And with a view like this as the backdrop, it’s going to be rather special. 🤍

Why Organic Mediterranean Interiors Are Trending

There’s a reason Organic Mediterranean interiors are having such a moment.

Rooted in simplicity, craftsmanship and a deep connection to nature, this style feels warm, relaxed and quietly luxurious — a welcome move away from spaces that feel overly polished or overly designed.

Think limewashed walls, softly textured plaster, aged timber, natural stone, linen, woven fibres and handcrafted ceramics. The palette is sun-washed and earthy: chalky whites, warm sand, terracotta, olive, to***co and muted coastal blues.

What makes the look feel so inviting is its imperfection. Organic Mediterranean design celebrates uneven surfaces, natural patina and materials that become more beautiful with time. Rather than filling a room, the emphasis is on carefully chosen pieces with sculptural form, texture and soul.

Curved architecture, oversized pottery, relaxed linen upholstery and rustic timber create softness, while strong natural materials keep the space grounded. And instead of decoration for decoration’s sake, artwork becomes an important part of the atmosphere — bringing colour, emotion and individuality into an otherwise restrained interior.

Perhaps its growing appeal is also about how we want our homes to feel.

There are interiors where art is added at the end — and then there are rooms like this, where the artwork becomes the starting point.

Here, the large-scale abstract piece that is unquestionably the centrepiece. Its layers of deep ocean blue, turquoise and luminous aqua immediately draw the eye, creating a focal point that gives the entire room its sense of identity.

Set against the dark charcoal stone wall, the colours feel even more vivid. The contrast gives the painting space to breathe while allowing its movement, texture and light to take centre stage.

What makes the room feel so beautifully considered is the way the interior quietly responds to the artwork rather than competing with it. Navy armchairs and blue-patterned cushions echo the deeper tones within the painting, while the cream sofa, natural timber and woven textures soften the palette and bring warmth to the space.

Beyond the windows, the ocean becomes part of the composition too. The blues of the artwork appear to continue naturally towards the sea, creating a connection between the interior and the landscape outside.

The Golden Triangle has long been one of the simplest rules for creating a kitchen that flows — keeping the fridge, sink and cooker within easy reach of one another.

It’s often the smallest details that have the biggest impact on an interior design project.

These decorative woven trims may seem like a tiny part of the process, but they’re exactly the kind of finishing touch that can elevate bespoke upholstery, cushions, curtains or joinery from beautiful to exceptional.

One of the real benefits of working with an interior designer is access to a carefully curated network of specialist suppliers and artisans. One of my favourite parts of a full turnkey interior design project is designing the bathrooms.

We’re still in the planning phase, but this is where the creative process really begins to come alive. Exploring colour palettes, layering textures, choosing finishes, and thinking about how every material will work together to create a space that feels calm, timeless and beautifully considered.

I love imagining how natural stone, tactile tiles, warm timber, brushed brass and soft lighting will come together to create a room that feels as good as it looks.

For me, great design is never about choosing beautiful products in isolation. It’s about how every detail complements the next, creating a space that feels effortless, cohesive and deeply relaxing.

These are the moments I really enjoy—the careful consideration behind every finish, every texture and every decision. Because it’s these details that transform a practical room into a sanctuary you’ll look forward to escaping to every day.

I can’t wait to share how this one evolves.

Always exciting when a project is nearly ready to begin…

There’s a huge amount of planning, preparation and problem-solving that happens before any work starts on site, from reviewing architectural plans and refining layouts to considering how every space will look, feel and function.

This beautiful coastal home is now moving closer to the transformation stage, with an extended living space, larger areas of glazing and a reworked interior designed to make the most of the light, views and surrounding landscape.

I’m really looking forward to seeing the plans begin to come to life and sharing more of the process along the way ✨
