It is the 10th anniversary so even more reason to pop out and come and see us.

In total you will be able to visit and buy from over 230 artists, meet the artists and choose something or commission something you’ll love.

There are 7 artists at 5 venues in the Hanwell W7 area that we have formed a hub with and W7 is where I am located alongside

From next Saturday you will be able to visit and buy from over 230 artists across two weekends at Ealing BEAT (Borough of Ealing Art Trail).

Plus some venues are opening a special Wednesday evening to celebrate BEAT’s 10th anniversary.

Come along and meet the artist, see some art, attend a workshop, watch a demo, chat all things arty and enjoy a lovely walk between these 7 artists at 5 venues in the Hanwell W7 area.

Head to the following streets and look for the posters and pink balloons!

Workshop at BEAT…

…This year I am offering a workshop at Ealing Beat

A 90 minute session each day at around 11/11.30am

These are some of the steps through the session:

You’ll get to warm up/loosen up.
Get engrossed in nature.
Draw, make marks, scribble.
Cut, tear, fold, crease, place and stick.
Look through papers, select from pieces, combine, compare.
Relax, unwind, take a breath and stop and look.

…. Venue 26+ - Muriel’s Magpie

At Venue 26+ you’ll find collage, illustration, painting and much more.

Sharing a deep appreciation of the natural world,
Mary and Mardi create artworks in their
own distinctive styles, ranging from intricate custom
pen illustrations to richly layered painted landscapes.

Here we have some pieces by me, I’m Mary. Hi 👋

These creations span the last 5 years and showcase various media from fineline pen, digital drawing, mixed media, collage, watercolour, pencil drawing and even some baby spider plant propagating.

I love getting involved in a school or community based project as much as I enjoy working on a custom commission.

My most recent illustrations (I’ll post a separate post) are for a book so I love a challenge and never really create the same thing twice.

Come along to Venue 26+ on the first weekend of BEAT to meet me and take a look at some examples of my commission work and buy greeting cards, book marks, stickers etc

Meet the artists…

… Muriel’s Magpie and Sunny Girl Art and Craft!!

Aka Mary and Mardi.

We met when teaching Art in West London 25 years ago and taught together for 12 or so of those years!

Now we love taking part in BEAT and continue sharing our artistic skills in the classroom and beyond… after engagements, marriages, babies, new houses, moving on to other schools to teach we have rekindled our friendship and continued our shared love of art and we are returning for our 5th BEAT this year.

We are two artists with a shared love of the natural world. 🌿 We work in our own distinctive styles, creating in a wide range of genres between the two of us.

Mostly our artworks are inspired by nature and people, involving intricate custom pen illustrations to richly layered painted landscapes.

Come and discover our work at Venue 26+ for the first weekend of BEAT - meet us both and see the different ways we bring the natural world to life through collage, illustration and painting.

Keep your eyes peeled for what’s going on at our venue - we can’t wait to share more with you this week!

What a wonderful wedding ceremony and amazing wedding party! It’s a long time since I danced until 3am 😍

What a creative family!!!

Such a lovely bunch of clay creations with the youngest member of the family surprising everyone and sticking to his creating for the longest and what a range of beautiful outcomes!!!

Creating in clay offers mental, physical, and emotional benefits by acting as a natural stress reliever, improving fine motor skills, and fostering mindfulness.

Working with clay engages multiple senses simultaneously, bridging the gap between your physical movements and creative thoughts.

Whether you are throwing pottery on a wheel or sculpting by hand, the medium provides a unique therapeutic outlet.

Bonding over clay, sharing tips and tricks, using your hands, touching the clay (essentially the earth), scratching, scraping, feeling, squishing, pulling using your hands as tools.

A wonderful evening activity.

Taking inspiration from those beautiful creatures with wings and plant life and combining into a piece of art that evokes calm and joy.

You walk away having learnt new skills after playing with papers and cutting, ripping, tearing, folding your way to feeling relaxed.

Ceramics Club…

… has come to an end for this academic year.

It’s been wonderful to see all the great ideas the children have come up with.

This year I have created a holiday pack that includes a mini zine with instructions about how to create something that begins with a pinch pot, a set of tools and some key pointers for parents.

Clay is a fabulous way to unwind, refocus.

Making with your hands, using an earthy material and focussing on a new skill can really ground you, reduce any overactive thinking, quieten the mind and can reduce anxiety.

It is so fun to just play, squish, sculpt, scrape, drag, shape and score into this soft material.

Adults and children alike enjoy this and each pack has enough clay to create two pinch pot creatures.

What a way to unwind at home. ☺️
