Happy birthday to us!

Today NoiseBoys is 17 years old, we started out on this day in 2009. Do you remember where you were? No, we don’t either.

We’ve had a great ride so far, plenty of high highs and low lows over 17 years, but we wouldn’t change it for anything else. Thank you so much to all those who have worked with us over the years.

We’ve gone from two blokes delivering installs from the back of a Ford Mondeo to a much larger, ever growing team. Ford Mondeos don’t even exist any more, but we’re still here, and we’re still hiring! If you know any AV installers please put them in touch!

18 next year, we suppose we’ll have to grow up a bit then.

Throwback to two years ago, when we were at Beacon Church in Bury St Edmunds.

This was a bit of everything, with pixel LED tape from Abstract, additional stage lighting, projection from Midwich, cameras and in-ear monitors all included in the installation.

We started by planning and marking out the aluminium extrusion to fit the wall spaces, ready for the LED tape to be installed. At the same time, we fitted LED tape into the recessed cross shapes in the walls and installed LED battens to create a coloured wall wash.

We’re pleased to welcome Dale to the Noiseboys team as our new Head of Operations.
Dale brings a wealth of technical and management experience to the team, and we’re looking forward to working with him as we continue to grow and develop the business.
Please join us in giving Dale a warm welcome to Noiseboys.

This week we’ve been up in Leeds adding a new desk and radio mic system at Leeds Minster.

The project included installing a new Allen & Heath QU5 mixer to replace an old analogue mixer as well as new radio microphones and discreetly mounted antennas to make sure we had great coverage throughout the building.

The upgraded system will provide more reliable wireless microphone coverage, particularly during larger services when multiple microphones are in use.

Throwback to six years ago, when Josh and Janusz spent a week up in Aberdeen at Seaton Community Church, installing the sound, video and network systems for their brand new building.

The project covered multiple rooms, with sound and video systems installed throughout, alongside the network infrastructure.

What made this one a bit different was that the church team had built the whole place themselves and pulled in all the cabling. Our job was to fit the equipment at the ends, get everything connected and bring the systems to life.

We were back again two years ago to install acoustic panels in the café and main hall, helping to improve the acoustics in both spaces.

A great project to look back on, and a big effort from everyone involved.

This week we’ve been finishing off some work at Brook Mead Academy, installing a new school wide announcement system. This covers all 3 floors of the main school building, the sports hall and also the outside playground area.

We've installed Audac CENA and NOLA speakers throughout the inside areas and FBT Shadow IP rated speakers outside and in the sports hall.

In the SEN rooms we've included volume controls, allowing the sound levels to be adjusted to suit each space.

At the heart of the system is a single 8 zone audio processor by AtlasIED and 2 Powersoft Quattrocanali, Dante enabled amplifiers driving the whole system and running over the existing school network infrastructure.

Paging mics and music playback inputs are distributed throughout the school for easy use of the announcement system, with the system ready to manage the automated school bell scheduling as soon as the school are ready to switch over to it.

Last week, we completed an installation at St George’s Church in Stamford.

The installation includes screens and a Smart Player from Audio Visual Material, alongside an Allen & Heath portable rack with eight outputs and an Allen & Heath ME-1 40-channel personal mixer.

The new equipment provides the church with a practical setup for managing audio and visual content within the building.

We’re currently working at NEC Adventist Church, helping turn a former office space into a new church auditorium, with the help from We Are Spaces.

The building was renovated during Covid after being purchased by the church.

We’ve started with the first fix cabling and getting the stage into place. Next up, we’ll be installing the speakers and screens as the auditorium starts to come together.

It’s National Pasta Day tomorrow, and we thought we’d share our own version of cable spaghetti.

There’s always a point in an AV installation where the cables look a bit messy before getting tidied up and connected. It might not look like much now, but there’s a method to the madness.

Three years ago, we completed the installation and commissioning of the new sound and lighting systems at Spectrum Ice Rink. Working through the night for 2 weeks to get the system in place without disturbing a busy Ice schedule.

On the audio side, we removed six large speakers and a full rack of amplifiers, replacing them with 22 smaller FBT Audio Shadow Series speakers and six subs. The new system is powered and controlled by compact CloudPower amplifiers from Apex Audio significantly reducing the amount of equipment required.

For the lighting, we replaced 72x 1kW PAR cans with 48 high-powered LED Quad PARs and 12 LED Quad floods from Prolight. The new system is controlled through a rack-mounted lighting processor from ChamSys. Bringing the power consumption of the lighting system down massively, reducing the additional cooling required for the ice systems and lowering the overall running costs of the space whilst adding a whole load of colour options for the users.

A big upgrade to both systems, improving efficiency while delivering a flexible solution for the venue.
