Throwback to three years ago…

The truss is up! 🙌

Our team were working at One Church Leicester alongside , and at this stage of the project it was time to get the truss installed ahead of the stage build beginning.

We installed a 12m x 4m rectangular truss above what would become the main stage area, making sure everything was in place at the right point in the build programme.

It went in really smoothly and still looks just as neat today — great work from the team on this one 👌

Throwback to five years ago…

Our team were down in Hungerford carrying out another full church AV upgrade.

On the audio side, we installed Martin CDD speakers, paired with a Yamaha DSP and Crown amplifiers to deliver clear and consistent coverage throughout the space.

Alongside this, we fitted a new video system featuring PTZ Optics cameras, Kramer switching, HDAnywhere distribution, and Philips displays.

One of the key considerations on this project was ensuring all fixings went only into the mortar joints on the pillars — something fairly common in heritage-style buildings. To achieve this, we created custom wooden pads to bridge between the mortar fixings, giving us a solid mounting point while still positioning the equipment exactly where it needed to be 👌

This week some of our team are working locally in Lutterworth on a church sound refit.

This project includes new speakers, amplifiers, radio mics, and all-new cabling throughout the building. We’re replacing the old 100V speaker system with lots of smaller 6” Omega Install speakers, which means quite a bit more cable going in overhead and under the floor.

We’re also rerunning some existing lines for a couple of 100V speakers in surrounding rooms that are being retained as part of the upgrade.

At this stage of the project, all the speakers are mounted and around half are already cabled, with the rest well underway. Next up is connecting everything into the new amplifiers and getting the system up and running ready for the weekend.

Happy 1 year to Josh… or Harry…? 🤔

Somewhere along the line the install team started calling Josh “Harry”. None of the rest of us really know why, but at this point he seems to answer to both names equally well. We do seem to have developed a pattern though, every Josh after the original one seems to end up with a different name sooner or later.

He joined us with previous experience in events and AV installation, whilst already working towards his electrical qualifications, and he hit the ground running from day one.

Since then, he’s been involved in the majority of our projects, ranging from smaller installs right through to some of the most technically complex and high-profile jobs we’ve delivered.

He’s fitted straight into the way we work, always willing to graft, get stuck in, and help find solutions when needed. In a very short space of time he’s become a valued part of the team and someone we can always rely on on site.

This week some of the team have started work on a new project over in Coventry

It might not look like much yet, but we’re currently pulling in speaker, audio signal, and data cabling ready for a new zoned audio system.

First fix stages always tend to look the same, lots of cable, plenty of planning, and not much of the shiny kit in sight just yet. But getting this part done properly, and at the right stage of the build, is what sets the foundation for everything that comes later in the project

There’s still plenty more to come on this one, so keep an eye out over the coming weeks as the install starts to take shape.

Our very first employee, longest serving team member, and the person keeping Noiseboys running behind the scenes for the last 10 years and beyond. From finances and HR to guarding the stationery cupboard — and making sure the office contains at least some colour (mainly pink) — we genuinely wouldn’t function without her 🙌

Happy 1 year to Ed as a full-time member of the Noiseboys team! 🙌

Although officially joining us full time a year ago, Ed has been part of the wider Noiseboys story for much longer, first working with us around 8 or 9 years ago helping out on projects before going on to gain a huge amount of experience across AV installations in both the UK and abroad.

Over the past year, he’s become an invaluable part of the team, helping to run projects and consistently delivering an incredibly high standard of work on site. Whether it’s termination, cable dressing, or rack building, Ed’s attention to detail and quality of finish are second to none 👌

Happy 5 years to ! 🙌

Not always the easiest to capture on camera as he’s normally off busy in the back of a rack or hidden away somewhere on site.

Rob has been a key part of many of our installs over the years, from system design and technical setup through to delivering projects on site.

More recently, he’s taken on the role of Project Manager, focusing on project delivery and operations, and has successfully led a number of high-profile and technically advanced projects from start to finish.

Whether it’s coordinating teams, keeping projects on track, or making sure everything comes together as it should, Rob plays a huge part in what we do.

To start the week, we’ve been back down in Guildford working with our friends at Spectrum Leisure Centre, where we’ve previously installed audio and lighting in the ice rink

This time, we’ve been upgrading the audio system in the bowling and soon-to-open Puttify areas

Out with the old ceiling speakers (while keeping the existing PA/VA system in place), and in with 58 new 7” and 8” ceiling speakers from Audac, delivering better coverage and clarity across the space.

The system is split into four zones, all run from an Allen & Heath AHM. It’s been designed to automatically duck the music for announcements, whether that’s from preloaded announcement messages, the JTS radio mic system, or the building’s existing PAVA system.

Each zone can be adjusted independently, giving the team flexibility while keeping the experience consistent for customers. Control is via a custom touchscreen, keeping things simple for day-to-day use while the heavy lifting happens behind the scenes.

At the end of the day, the system mutes itself, then automatically comes back on at preset levels the next morning, ready to go

It’s been great to be back working with Nick and the team again, we hope they enjoy the new system!
