Quite the week with the Cookalong Clwb, working with Bwyd Cynaliadwy Penybont / Sustainable Food Bridgend and primary schools in Bridgend, meeting Martyn Jones, a truly passionate councillor and trialling the new schools menu, enabling pupils to create the recipes and decide with their tastebuds, using local seasonal Welsh Veg, to joining a brilliant evening at Yeo Valley Organic for a farm to fork event organised by in the beautiful Blagdon with Brooke’s Wye Valley Dairy Co. where I lived many lifetimes ago, talking food, eating food and discussing a future that makes a difference to all of us…..and then celebrating the sunshine to get the washing done!!!!

Year 4 at truly tried and tested the new school menu with Bwyd Cynaliadwy Penybont / Sustainable Food Bridgend there were interviews and a visit from Cllr Martyn Jones where they shared the Tomato and Broccoli pasta and their tastebuds- some wanted more veg, some less veg, some just pasta but all agreed that cooking from scratch using Welsh organic veg is BRILLIANT!!!!!
Such a brilliant school, we can’t wait to feedback our findings wales x

Such a great day with Bwyd Cynaliadwy Penybont / Sustainable Food Bridgend and the brilliant pupils at cooking tomato and broccoli pasta from scratch, using their skills and tastebuds to adapt it for the new schools menu. They were all incredible - prepping, weighing, stirring, cooking and sharing their food and giving very determined feedback on ingredients, tastes and textures.

So much fun today with creating school meal recipes with pupils from and making tomato sauce from scratch with lentils, purple sprouting broccoli and carrots. The new menu goes live in September using Welsh Grown Organic Veg. These intrepid pupils put the recipe to the test and they LOVED it!!!!!! They gave out tasters and lots of feedback and improvements as we all know we have very different tastebuds and many tried ingredients for the first time, giving confident and determined feedback

Such a lovely day celebrating the International Family Day in Usk with so many lovely faces and children delighting in making their own Noodle Pots, trying new ingredients and learning about local, sustainable and deforestation free food. So much fun at making fajitas today, loads came to prep and cook and we fed people, huge thanks to the festival team, especially Debbie for making this happen, thank you ###x And HUGE thanks to Pip, Natalie and Bethan for volunteering as part of your bronze award, you girls are marvellous 🤩

So much fun at in the sunshine, we prepped and made the Chickpea Korma for festival goers, created by the pupils of , we delighted with pani puri brilliance and ended the day in the sunshine at ! We’re back tomorrow, prepping from 11am, eating about 12:30…..it’s fajitas!! Plus bag decorating and seed planting, see you all tomorrow ###.

We're so delighted to be joining Devauden Festival this weekend in The Wonder Burrow. You're children can get hands on, joining us to prep, cook and create delicious meals for all to eat!!!!

Join us:
Friday from 3pm we'll be creating Noodle Pots, perfect camping food made from scratch - no ultra processed food here!

Saturday from 11am we're making our infamous Chickpea Korma with delicious sides, with food served from about 1pm (when it's ready).
From 2pm ish we'll have bag decorating.

Sunday from 11am we're making quesadillas/fajitas with local vegetables to eat your way.
From 2pm ish children will have a chance to plant their own vegetable seeds to take home thanks to Chase Produce.

Vegan/gluten free alternatives will be available too.

Children will need to be joined by a reliable responsible adult as we'll be using sharp knives, graters and hot pans.

It's free to join in the prep, meals are from £3-£6 a bowl and the crafting/planting is £3pp, all proceeds will go to the Cookalong Clwb to support food projects.
