Wishing everyone a blessed solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, and a very happy new year! We hope that 2026 will be a year of peace, joy, and hope for all.

Happy feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!
Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, let your maternal protection pe*****te my heart, so that I will not be troubled or weighed down with grief. Preserve me from fear of any illness or anxiety, vexation or pain. You are here, Mother of God and my Mother! I place myself under your shadow and protection. You are my fountain of life. Keep me in the folds of your mantle and in the crossing of your arms, and I shall need nothing more. Amen.

Hello friends! Wishing you all a very blessed Advent!
The past couple of months have got away from us somewhat; our preaching apostolate is very busy and poor Dominicards has been neglected once again as a result, but we remain very grateful for the orders that have been coming our way nonetheless. Your support is much appreciated, and we keep you all in our prayers!

"God has created me to do Him some definite service; He has committed some work to me which He has not committed to another. I have my mission - I may never know it in this life, but I shall be told it in the next."
Happy feast of St John Henry Newman! May this great saint - soon to be an official Doctor of the Church! - intercede for us all, and especially for his country of England; that we may seek the truth courageously and that our hearts may be ever more conformed to Christ.

A5 prints of his 'Some Definite Service' reflection are back in stock in the shop: https://www.dominicansisters.net/product-page/some-definite-service-prayer-card-prints

Happy feast of Our Lady of the Rosary! Let us all respond to Pope Leo's request for us to pray the rosary daily this month, especially for peace in the world.

We thought that today would be a good day to reintroduce knotted cord rosaries to the online shop! After many requests, you can now purchase rosaries hand-knotted by the sisters for the first time since we had to close our Etsy shop last year. A variety of lovely blues are available, with more colours to follow 🥰

Happy feast of the Holy Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael! May they guard us, defend us, and guide us all, and may we draw encouragement and strength from their support as we engage in spiritual warfare 🙏

Again the high priest asked Him, "Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?" Jesus said, "I AM, and you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of Heaven." - Mark 14:61b-62

This piece was largely completed in traditional calligraphy, with gouache and gold leaf used for the illuminated letters and decorations. Sr Lucy still wants to get better at using gold leaf - it is so much fun, and adds such a richness to the final design.

On Saturday, 20th September, Sr Cooey will make her final profession as a Dominican Sister of St Joseph! Please do pray for her in these last couple of days of preparation, that the Lord will bless her abundantly for her generous response to His call!
Swipe to see the stages of designing her Profession invitation 😄 Sr Cooey put together a sketch with the key aspects she wanted. It was particularly important for her to have elements which convey her love for her Irish heritage, as well as the Dominican charism that she has adopted. Sr Lucy created a second sketch to work out the spacing and details, and then completed the final design using a combination of traditional calligraphy, watercolour, and fineline pens. Sr Cooey is delighted with the result!

What JOY for the Church to behold the canonisation of St Carlo Acutis today! (And St Pier Giorgio Frassati - we need to do more art for him!!)
The sisters were introduced to Carlo during the Covid lockdowns, particularly through the EWTN documentary of his life, and ever since then he's been a friend of our community. It's of course helpful to have a millennial saint to call on when facing problems with the internet, but we love Carlo most of all for his deep devotion to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. What a powerful witness he gave with his young life, so consumed with love for His Lord and Saviour.
Sr Lucy worked on this painting of St Carlo during the sisters' silent retreat this summer. She's not 100% content with the likeness, but it looks enough like him to be recognisable! The painting was completed in watercolours, with gold leaf for the monstrance and halo.
Saint Carlo Acutis, pray for us!

A card for a friend who was ordained to the holy priesthood last month.
Remember to give thanks and pray for your priests! May they be strong and holy men of God.
"St Bernard tells us that everything has come to us through Mary; and we may also say that everything has come to us through the priest; yes, all happiness, all graces, all heavenly gifts. If we had not the Sacrament of Orders, we should not have Our Lord. Who placed Him there, in that tabernacle? It was the priest..." - St Jean-Marie Vianney
