PAD studio is an award winning, young architectural practice working on a diverse range of projects. We provide full architecture, master-planning and interior design services for both the public and private sectors in collaboration with a diverse network of craftspeople and enthusiastic consultants. Sustainability is our passion and we have just completed our first PassivHaus. We work closely wit

h our clients to establish strong relationships, delivering to the client crafted and beautiful buildings that surpass expectations and are unique to each client and their site. We are inspired by nature, people, art and music – always seeking to imbue our work with additional meaning and richness. We believe that quality and value contemporary architecture can be delivered even at the smallest scale. Spaces are beginning to tell their story at Keepers Lodge.

There’s a real shift happening on site now as volumes become legible and the architecture starts to settle into place. Openings are framing views, light is moving through the structure, and each space is beginning to reveal its character.

Alongside this, we’re deep into exploring and refining finishes — testing materials, colours and textures to ensure everything feels considered, cohesive and true to the brief.

This stage always highlights the value of a collaborative process. Ongoing dialogue, shared decision-making and proactive engagement help shape the design as it evolves — ensuring the finished project is both robust and richly detailed.

A great reminder that the strength of any project lies in how it’s collectively developed.

Our team series celebrates the individuals who shape PAD studio’s work — in the studio and beyond.

At the helm is Wendy Perring, Founder & Design Director, whose vision continues to guide the studio — creating architecture rooted in place, crafted with care, and driven by purpose.
⁠
With over two decades of experience, Wendy has led projects from cultural and educational spaces to bespoke homes in some of the UK’s most sensitive landscapes. Passionate about education and the wider profession, she continues to teach, examine and contribute to design review — always questioning how architecture can enhance the way we live.
⁠
That spirit of enquiry defines PAD studio: we question everything to create places that nurture wellbeing, unlock value and stand the test of time.
⁠
Outside the studio, Wendy’s sense of adventure continues — from sailing (30,000 sea miles and counting) to walking, swimming and a well‑earned glass of red. Accompanying all ideally with a good piece of dark chocolate.

We’re excited to share the beginnings of our journey at Green Oaks, nestled on the edge of the New Forest. This project is rooted in a landscape shaped by centuries of stewardship, where ancient woodland, rolling commons, and farmsteads create a unique sense of place.

Our table is alive with sketches—each one a conversation, a possibility, a step towards a new home that sits lightly within its surroundings. We’re exploring how architecture can respond to the land’s history, the views across Cranborne Chase, and the rhythms of daily life. The design is evolving through lively discussions, balancing practicality, beauty, and sustainability.

Since joining PAD studio in 2021, Jen has brought a thoughtful, inquisitive approach to practice as an Architect and certified PassivHaus Designer. Working across a range of residential projects along the Dorset coast — from contemporary extensions and one‑off homes to multi‑unit housing and apartment schemes — Jen’s work reflects a deep commitment to quality, sustainability and care for how people live.

Driven by a passion for sustainable design, Jen now supports the studio’s Post‑Occupancy research, helping us question how buildings perform in real life and how we can continue to learn, evolve and design better homes for the future.

Fascinated by phenomenological theory and the way people experience space, Jen embodies our belief that even the most constrained brief or site holds the potential for beauty. By questioning materials, techniques and outcomes, Jen helps unlock homes that are both emotionally enriching and economically sound. We celebrate the question — because it leads to thoughtful, sustainable and lasting design.

A campus as an ecotone — a living edge where architecture and nature grow together. Scroll through to explore our proposal for the Hummingbird Lab with the RAI.

Petal‑like timber pods form a flexible, low‑carbon kit of parts: demountable, adaptable, and designed to evolve over time.
Gathered around a shared heart anchored by a tree, the campus supports collaboration, learning and community. Between the pods, biodiverse landscapes and flowing water turn nature into teacher.

Our team series celebrates the individuals whose skills, values and experiences help shape PAD studio’s work — both in and beyond the studio.

As Creative Manager & Architect at PAD studio, Collette brings curiosity, care and a deeply collaborative spirit to everything she does. Alongside her design leadership in the studio, she is passionate about supporting future generations of creatives.
⁠
Collette has been a long‑standing mentor with SPUD, a charity working at the intersection of art, architecture and education to build confidence, skills and opportunity within communities. She also shares her experience as a guest critic at Arts University Bournemouth, contributing thoughtful insight and encouragement to emerging designers.

Away from the drawing board, Collette is currently taking on a personal challenge — training from couch to 10 miles for the Great South Run this October. It’s a reminder that growth, commitment and belief in the process matter as much outside the studio as they do within it.

At Fearne Hill, our first moves were not about form, but about listening — walking the land, understanding its patterns, boundaries and long views, and learning where architecture could quietly belong rather than assert itself.

These early studies explore how a building might be drawn into the ground, shaped by topography, hedgerows and historic field lines, with landscape flows restored so that structures recede and biodiversity leads. Sketching, cutting, embedding and testing — a process of reduction rather than addition.

As we move forward toward submitting a Paragraph 84e application, the design ambition is clear - To create architecture of exceptional quality that is inseparable from its setting.Enhancing the land by becoming part of it.

At New Forest Park, the landscape is not something that sits behind the architecture, but the quiet presence that leads it. This project is fundamentally landscape-led: restoring openness, veteran oaks and long views, and strengthening ecological networks across grassland, water and woodland through Kim Wilkie’s Landscape Masterplan.

Alongside the careful restoration of historic estate structures The Dairy and Park Cottage, PAD studio is also designing a contemporary new Estate Yard – the future working heart from which this remarkable parkland will be managed and cared for.

The proposal, submitted under Paragraph 84, was described by the Case Officer as “outstanding and innovative” and as “enhancing the landscape”.

As the first step in the wider masterplan for New Forest Park, the approved Paragraph 84e project—delivered in collaboration with —marks the beginning of a new era for this remarkable landscape.

The Estate Yard will become the low‑embodied‑carbon, sustainably crafted base from which the park’s regeneration will unfold. Thoughtfully designed to support day‑to‑day operations, it will provide the essential foundations needed to restore, protect, and reimagine the historic New Forest estate.

From conserving ancient parkland to nurturing future habitats, the Estate Yard sets the tone for a bold and responsible vision of stewardship. As the first new building in the estate’s transformation, it will offer a functional yet beautiful hub for the teams dedicated to caring for the land, heritage, and future of the park. Simple, practical, and rooted in sustainable craftsmanship—this space represents a long‑term commitment to regeneration done the right way.

We are pleased that our collaborative New Forest Park – a Paragraph 84e project – was given a unanimous support vote at this week’s planning committee. Working with to activate this historic New Forest estate has taken a considered, forensic and thorough approach.

Alongside the new interventions, the careful adaptation of the listed buildings – The Park and The Dairy – sits at the heart of this vision. Here, craft becomes a quiet but powerful form of storytelling: celebrating age‑old details, revealing traces of past lives, and working with the fabric that has stood for generations.

These buildings are not being overwritten; they are being listened to.
The committee praised the scheme for its sensitivity and clarity, recognising the meticulous approach needed to breathe new life into heritage structures while preserving their character. We’re thrilled that planning approval has been secured, allowing these buildings to continue their narrative with purpose and care.

By embracing craft as a guiding principle, the project bridges history and future — showing how thoughtful adaptation can protect what we cherish while making space for new beginnings.
