A little peek at what I’ve been working on behind the scenes. 🤍

My hands have been struggling a little recently, so I’m moving much more slowly than I’d like — but I’m getting there!

This is my latest commissioned piece — a 70 cm (approx. 27½”) handmade crochet Tree of Life mandala.

It’s taken quite a few hours and plenty of patience, but I’m really pleased with how this one has turned out.

I don’t show my own work on here very often, but every now and then something deserves its moment. 🤍

This size is £80 and commissions are welcome.

Meet little Sofia ❤️

Sofia has been collecting the little stones that Lesley paints for us… and she’s got about 20 of them now! 🥹

And the sweetest part? She buys them with her own pocket money. ❤️

I honestly think that might be one of the biggest compliments a maker — and our little shop — could ever receive.

Thank you, Sofia, for loving Lesley’s little creations so much and for being such a wonderful little supporter of handmade. 🥰

Taking a quick walk around the shop! 🛍️✨

Every corner is packed with handmade creations, unique gifts and cosy little finds.

I’m still learning what works best with our live shopping sessions, and I think going forward I’m going to focus on just a few special pieces or one collection at a time. That way I can show you everything properly, talk through the details and answer your questions without rushing!

Several times now I’ve had to put repeat orders in because you keep buying them — which is obviously VERY good news for me… but you’re making my job increasingly difficult. 😂

The not-so-nice side of selling online… 😕

We absolutely love being able to sell to people who can’t visit us here in Mablethorpe. Most of our online customers are genuinely lovely, and we’re incredibly grateful for every order. 💚

Unfortunately, selling online also comes with risks.

We’ve had a few experiences over the past year that have taught us to recognise when something doesn’t feel right — and, more importantly, to stop before it’s too late.

Today someone wanted to buy an item and I sent them our secure SumUp payment link. I was then sent a screenshot of a supposed payment error asking for my email address, despite the genuine payment page not requiring that information from the seller.

When I wouldn’t provide it, the conversation moved on to asking whether I used Zelle, Venmo or PayPal.

That’s where I stopped.

I can’t know for certain what this person’s intentions were, but I’ve learnt something very important from running a small business online: stick to your own secure payment system. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t be frightened of losing the sale — just stop.

No £17.30 sale is worth risking your business or your money.

And to the huge majority of our online customers who are absolutely lovely — thank you. 💚 You’re the reason we continue offering online shopping and UK delivery.
