What happened? The sun shone and spring and summer sped by. Long hours watering, seeking shade and serving customers undeterred by the heat and drought. As in 1976 late August has brought cloud and rain producing a second spring as new growth appears in our gardens and in the fields and hedgerows around us. As summer gives way to autumn there is a tinge of melancholy but as the poem says "We have no time to stop and stare" and as in the garden so on the nursery there is more to do than there are hours in the day.The nursery looks different now evergreens, late summer flowers ,bulbs and plants for autumnn displays.
We hope you enjoy the season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.

Blue skies ,early frost and a promise of a sunny few days. Hurrah !
Madly potting the remaining bare root stock and getting ready for the summer planting season with thousands of bedding plants about to burst into flower.
We have concluded our compost trial. The good news is that the overall quality is better than last year and that the best of the peat free composts matched the performance of those containing peat. As last year the Clover and SylvaGrow composts gave the best results followed by Jacks Magic and Miracle gro , with plants in Westlands organic peat free compost the laggards.
