“Does this need to go under glass?” is something I get asked a lot.

For oil or acrylic paintings on board or canvas, usually not. But works on paper, such as watercolours, pencil, charcoal, pastels or art prints? Definitely.

I also frame textiles and objects which also would be glazed.

I offer UV-protective glass options that reduce fading from sunlight – so your artwork stays vibrant and protected. And the anti-reflective glass options I have available are amazing - you can hardly believe there is glass in the frame. I defy you not to tap it, just to check!

It’s like Piccadilly Circus around here…

This is a fabulous London Underground poster featuring the hustle and bustle of this landmark.

We chose a black and gold frame and paired it with a double mount. The lower mount has a hand-painted gold bevel edge to echo the frame and elevate the design.

The Google review I received after this said:
“Alex has now framed several large vintage posters that I inherited. Alex has done a great job of framing them all with great skill and wonderful attention to detail. Meet Tina and Barney! 🦉

This incredible drawing by Madartbird is in coloured pencil. Having studied it up close, I can say it’s truly stunning. It has a beautiful softness, yet with depth and body.

We have framed it with a double mount in a soft grey and an off-white, and a simple light, warm grey frame, under antireflective glass.

These beautiful antique botanical book plates were framed for my very good friend Hayley from local interiors company Will & Bea.

For some strange reason, I’ve always enjoyed looking through the decorator paint charts at the names. These don’t disappoint with:

⚓️Oh I do like to be beside the seaside… 🌊

These two gorgeous little prints came to me for framing recently. We kept the mounts they came in as the artist had written the titles on them. So it was a case of framing and glazing them.

The driftwood style frame worked really well with the coastal theme as well as the textures in the illustrations, and also the bathroom that they are going to be hung in.

More often than not I will finish a frame with picture hanging cord or wire on the back using D rings, but when I saw the location these were going to be hung I decided to use mirror plates (see last pic). They are going in a bathroom on a wall that will be walked past regularly to get to a cupboard. So I felt it was far safer to use mirror plates to firmly fix them to the wall in an area where there will be bare limbs and feet!

The couple, who are doing up their thatched cottage in Berkshire, were absolutely delighted with them. 🥰
