🚴‍♀️ Bike Marking Event Success – Pickersleigh Pump Track 🚨

📅 Yesterday (Wednesday 28th May) officers attended Pickersleigh Pump Track for a community bike marking event, and we’re pleased to say it was a great success! ✅

🚲 A number of bikes were security marked, helping owners protect their property and making it easier for police to identify and return stolen bikes. It was also a fantastic opportunity to engage with local young people and promote cycle safety.

👮🏻 During the event, officers also dealt with some anti-social behaviour involving a group of youths gaining access to a nearby building site. The matter was quickly addressed, and advice was given around safety and the risks associated with entering restricted areas.

👏 Thank you to everyone who attended and supported the event If you’d like your bike marked or want more information on preventing theft, please look out for further events in the Community.

CAN YOU HELP? | We are appealing for witnesses after several reports of a person or persons firing objects from a car in the Newtown Road area of Malvern recently.

Passengers in a white car with blacked-out front windows have been targeting members of the public near to The Retired Soldier pub using either a catapult or possibly a BB gun.

Items are being launched with such force that they are shattering when hitting walls and damaging or marking the walls on impact.

In one incident, a lady walking down Graham Road with a group of friends was targeted and struck by an object, leaving her with a bruise. In another incident, a man escaped injury because he moved position just before something would have hit him in the eye.

The incidents have typically been happening of an evening or around pub closing time on a weekend, but it has been mentioned that the car has also driven past The Retired Soldier and launched things at the customers on a Wednesday night.

We would like to hear from anyone who has been affected, injured, or had damage caused, or anyone with any information about the culprits to come forward by contacting us at [email protected] .

👮‍♀️ MARTLEY AND TENBURY SAFETY ALERT 👮‍♀️

During this bank holiday weekend we have had several reports of people using the quarries on the Martley and Tenbury area. We would like to draw your attention to some of the dangers surrounding this;

-Quarries are much deeper than lakes, if you swim in one of them you are exposing yourself to cold water shock. This can cause panic or hyperventilation. Your muscles can weaken quickly which means you are at a higher risk of drowning.
-Hidden hazards underwater. This includes; sharp rocks, metal or machinery as quarries often leave industrial debris behind.
-Sudden drop offs, which is when the water is swallow and goes deep very suddenly.
-Entanglement risks; wires, cables, vegetation.
-Unstable edges and falling rocks. Lose rocks can fall without warning, edges can crumble under your weight and climbing in and out can be difficult or impossible in some places.
-Water quality and contamination; quarry water isn't always safe, may contain chemicals, heavy metals or low PH (acidic water). There is limited circulation which can cause algae or bacteria build up which means any cuts etc could become infected.

👍 Whilst it looks inviting we suggest you swim in a safer environment and where you are allowed to without trespassing. 👍

Important new signage in place outside Great Malvern Primary School will help keep Children Safe.

As one of the local Police Community Support Officers for the area, PCSO Kev Tudge recognised the need for more to be done to help keep the children safe.

“Given that there were a few parents showing no regard for the Children's safety at Great Malvern Primary School by continually parking on the Zig Zags directly outside Great Malvern Primary school, despite being advised not to do so, I liaised with Cllr’s Malcolm Victory and Marilyn Birks, in order to help obtain a Traffic Regulatory Order from Worcestershire Highways”.

“Clearly the safety of the Children is paramount, I would like to thank Councillors, Malcolm Victory and Marilyn Birks, for helping to obtain the 'No Stopping at Anytime' signs, which are now in place outside the school.”

This now means that Officers, and Malvern Hills District Council Parking Enforcement Officers, can issue fixed penalty notices should anyone park on the zig zags.

Cllr Victory said, “I am pleased to have been of help with this positive action, which will go some way to helping keep Children safe, on arriving and leaving the school”.

The school have said that since the signs have been put in place, the parking concerns directly outside the school have noticeably improved.

Following this half term, the Pickersleigh and Chase Safer Neighbour Police Team will continue to be present outside the school, when commitments allow.
