INCIDENT | Two boys arrested following suspected fi****ms incident

Two teenagers have been arrested today (Sunday 18 October) following a report of two boys being in possession of a suspected fi***rm in Malvern.

We were called to Welland shortly after 4.30pm following a report of two boys on an e-scooter and in possession of what was believed to be a gun.

Officers were quickly sent to the area and two boys, both aged 15, were located a short time later.

They were arrested on suspicion of being in possession of a fi***rm or imitation fi***rm with intent to cause fear of violence. They both remain in police custody.

It was also reported that the suspects may have waved the weapon at a group of young boys and officers are keen to identify them.

DS Polly Price said: “We understand an incident of this nature may be alarming for the community, but we want to offer reassurance that we responded quickly and now have two boys in custody.

“It is thought that the suspected weapon was waved towards four young boys. We do not believe they are in involved in the incident, or to have been injured, but we are keen to find out who they are and make sure they are ok.

“If this was you, or your child, please get in touch with us.

“We are also carrying out searches of the area as part our investigation with the aim to recover the suspected fi***rm.

“Residents can expect to see officers over the coming days as our enquiries continue.”

🌼🌱 The Golden Mile – planting for next spring 🌱🌼

👮🏻‍♀️ PC Dee Stanley dropped by to join Nick from Platform Housing Group and local volunteers for the planting day for the “Golden Mile” in Kempsey.

👏🏼 It was great to see everyone getting involved and working together to prepare the area for a colourful display next spring. A big thank you to Simon Bott for organising the planting day and to everyone who took part.

SENTENCED: Malvern s*x offender jailed for nine years.

A s*x offender who committed a string of offences against children has been jailed.

Michael Farney, aged 51, of Michael Crescent, Malvern pleaded guilty to 24 charges at Worcester Crown Court yesterday (15 October).

Farney’s offences included:

• Nine counts of inciting a girl under 13, or aged between 13 and 15, to engage in s*xual activity.
• Eleven counts of causing a child under 13, or aged between 13 and 15, to watch/ look at an image of s*xual activity.
• Four counts of taking indecent photographs / pseudo-photograph of a child.

The offences were committed between December 2025 and March 2026 and involved children as young as six.

Farney used Snapchat to engage with young girls, sharing indecent images and videos of himself, and inciting them to engage in s*xual acts themselves.

He was arrested by West Mercia Police’s Online Child Sexual Exploitation Team (OCSET) in March 2026 after credible information linked his online account to engaging with a 14-year-old online. He was rearrested the following month, as an examination of his phone revealed he had been engaging in online conversations and video calls with hundreds of young girls.

His phone also contained 40 indecent images of children, including 6 Category A images which are the most extreme. Farney screen recorded his encounters with young children on Snapchat using his mobile phone, which he retained to rewatch at a later date.

Farney will serve nine years and 4 months in jail, a sentence reduced from 14 years in light of his guilty plea.

He has also been given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) which prevents him from working with children and will be placed on the s*x offenders register for life. His devices have been seized and he will also have to pay a surcharge.

Detective Constable William Thomas said: “Farney’s predatory behaviour caused harm to a large number of child victims, but we were able to act swiftly and build an investigation which has put him in jail, where he can cause no further harm.

“Every day we are working relentlessly to pursue those who harm children. Often this work goes on unseen but please be assured we are stopping offenders in their tracks, and most importantly protecting the most vulnerable.”

“It’s vital we all play our part in keeping children safe. Make sure you understand the platforms your children are using, and create an environment where children feel comfortable talking and raising concerns. Early intervention and open communication remain some of the most effective tools in preventing online exploitation."

Over 200 children have now been safeguarded following the investigation by OCSET.

🚔♻️ Scrap Carrier Stopped in Bransford ♻️🚔

👮‍♀️ PC 21776 Pike from the Roads Policing Unit stopped a vehicle in Bransford yesterday carrying a large quantity of scrap metal with an insecure load.

📋 The driver was issued with a Traffic Offence Report (TOR) for the insecure load. Further checks revealed the driver did not hold a valid waste carrier's licence. The scrap was seized and a fine was issued.

⚠️ Unsecured loads can pose a serious risk to other road users, and anyone transporting waste must ensure they hold the correct licence and comply with relevant legislation.

A 37 year old Malvern man has been arrested this afternoon.

The man, who was wanted on suspicion of burglary and 2 shop thefts, was located by PCSO Kev Tudge in an alleyway in the Pickersleigh area of Malvern.

PC Wayne Waldron and PC Jack Craine attended the location to arrest the man and take him to custody.

Vehicle seized after driver was found to only have a provisional driving licence

This afternoon PCSO Pete Godwin was on patrol when he spotted a car struggling to move off from a hill start on Albert Road North in Malvern.
The vehicle rolled backwards and so the officer checked on the driver who was found to only have a provisional licence, did not have the appropriately qualified driver in the passenger seat and did not have insurance to cover her.
As a result, the vehicle was seized and the driver was reported for driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and for driving a motor vehicle with no insurance.
