ON SATURDAY NIGHT I did something a bit different… I had the pleasure of going to experience Dr. John Cooper Clarke in conversation with . After sharing some of his wit, wisdom and new poetry, there was a chance to ask John some questions… so I took this opportunity to ask him what his favourite flower was.
And John told me that although he was partial to an orchid, they didn’t have much of smell to them, and being a man who was quite nasally endowed he preferred something which stimulated his nasal receptors, therefore he would choose FREESIA as his favourite flower… I agreed that they were beautifully scented.
At the end of the night I got the chance to have a very brief conversation with John, he said he remembered me as a child, and that I was a pretty girl just like my mum. I have fond memories of spending time with him and my parents at our house on Manley Road in Whalley Range and with his mum Hilda in the flats in Salford.
I didn’t take any pictures on the night, but it was a beautiful evening spent with my good friend , and another memory to add to the bank.
I guess I got my influential music taste from my mama (see last slide 😉), as I can recall a good few of my CD’s that have gone missing over the years (IYKYK) 🤣🤣🤣
Us Donovan women always did have impeccable taste…
