We've upped our patch making game with some pre-digitised borders and it's made a big difference!

This set was delivered on Friday and will be used at several post-apocalyptic larps.

We're currently testing something else slightly different, and stitching out our most complex design yet!

Throwback Thursday!

Yesterday, Kitty Dobson announced they'd be running Bindune: Nightmare this time next year.

So, we're back with a photo from Bindrune episode 4 back in 2022.

I loved making this costume, there's so many little details on it - herringbone hand embroidery on the hood, chainstitch detail in all the seams and the whole coat is trimmed with around 8metres of hand woven trim

I'm looking forward to a potential opportunity to reprise Dagny, who ended play as Jarl of her clan, the Ylvings!

Wednesday WiP

We grabbed some pre-digitised patch borders last night and it's really upped our game! The borders are neater and cut out better too

This one is part of a set for a post-apocalyptic larp game

Sometimes, when I'm weaving, I really feel the age of this craft and a connection back in time.

This band is a great example of that. This is a reconstruction of one of the Hallstatt bands (sometimes called HallTex 123). This was found in a salt mine in Hallstatt, Austria and is between 2500 - 2800 years old.

The original was woven of wool and horsehair, my one is woven from mercerised cotton. But the pattern is the same. There's something about recreating something ancient that really speaks to me.

This band (and some others) will be added to our stock soon!

Hot off the loom, a new stole for the newly elected Inquisitor of Pride at

This is still tablet weaving, but the cards are all threaded the same way and always move in the same direction twice. Doubleface weaving like this creates a different texture to the band due to the frequent changes in direction. It's great for weaving messages!

The Freeborn value bright, vibrant colours - especially the colours of flames

It's Sigehold's Feast of Storms this weekend, an Empire player event set in the northern territory of Hahnmark - and a perfect excuse to get the really kit out.

I really wanted to lean into the colours of flame and sumptuous fabrics here
- Red and yellow layers in fine cotton lawn and extensively trimmed on all hems form the base and midlayers of this costume
- Brass buttons with selfmade bias loops close the mid-layer.
- The top layer is made of orange and gold brocade silk, lined with a lightweight gold satin.
- Red, raw silk hood to complete the look and keep the silhouette consistent for the character

Heraldry is important to knights, and this holds true even if the world is a blasted wasteland!

What better way to display your heraldry than a boiler suit and matching shield cover?

The big loom has been getting a lot of love recently as I've been weaving some wide bands

How big is big? Well...

You can see it here next to my Schatt inkle loom, which is dwarfed in comparison.

It's large and unweildy, but it's great for long or wide bands.

Watch this space to see what we've been weaving on it!

Even the most intrepid Knights must proceed with care in the Hot Zone.. Who knows what awaits in the dark corners? What will they find in the tomb of the Pharoah?
