Framing a piece of art is an "art" in itself.
The right framing choices should enhance the work and display it to its fullest potential. Poor choices can diminish its impact and spoil the artist's craft.
Although as artisans we framers want our craftmanship to be appreciated, a well chosen frame should be innocous, almost unnoticed to the viewer; like beautifully tailored clothes or inconspicuous make-up, it's effect should be almost imperceptible - an enhancement to the artwork that the viewer doesn't really notice.
