Reiko Kaneko's stunning ceramic pieces are part of our collection accompanying the Beneath the Great Wave exhibition The Whitworth. Understanding how Reiko used the original Great Wave print as inspiration 🖼️, and combined it with brushwork 🖌️ and glaze techniques to capture the movement, energy and beauty of the wave is fascinating 🌊.

Reiko is a London-based ceramicist whose work is inspired by Japanese aesthetics and British ceramic traditions, and her collection of three handmade tableware pieces are available in our Gallery shop and online.

As a champion of independent brands and retail, we also love collaborating with local artists and showcasing their work 🖼️.

Our collection of limited edition prints in collaboration with Venture Arts is really popular with visitors to the Gallery. Venture Arts is an award-winning visual arts organisation working with learning disabled artists, and they couldn’t be more local as they are based just a few miles down the road from The Whitworth in Hulme ✨!

Each print within the collection is just 1 of 50 produced and 50% of profits from each print sold goes directly back to the artist and Venture Arts. So, when you buy from the collection you are not only getting a truly unique piece of artwork, but you are also helping to sustain a valuable arts organisation doing great work in Manchester 🙌.

Head to our gallery shop or our website via the link in our bio 🔗 to shop the full collection 🛍️.

One of the standout works from the Beneath The Great Wave exhibition The Whitworth is the triptych print featuring The Grand Courtesans Sugatano and Nabito with Attendants by Ikeda Eisen 🖼️.

A triptych print is a work of art, photograph, or painting divided into three separate panels, designed to be displayed together as a single, cohesive piece. We’ve worked with King and McGaw , leading experts in fine art print publishing, to mount and print this beautiful piece onto high quality paper stocks - a perfect take-home memento of this stunning exhibition 🌊.
