🏗️✨Happy Women in Construction Week! 🏗️✨
This one is for every woman who has ever been told "you can’t do it." I’ve been there. Growing up, people around me always believed that trade jobs were "men’s work," and for a long time, I let those voices hold weight.
But here’s the truth!
Whatever you put your mind to, you absolutely can do, no matter what anyone else says.
I’m not trying to be an "inspiration," but I have a daughter now, and all I ever want her to hear in this life is: "You can do it."
This month marks one year since I became self-employed. It was the absolute scariest and the best decision I’ve ever made. I was 42 when I did it, proof that gender and age don’t matter at all when you want something.
Besides my wife’s incredible support, the biggest shift for me was discovering psychologist Carol Dweck. She changed my life by replacing "I can't" with "I can’t do it YET." What a difference one little word can make to your soul!
And to close... here is the deck I built with my wife on our last holiday in the US. When she caught COVID on the plane and our plans were canceled, my ADHD brain said: "Let’s build a deck!" So, instead of sitting around, we built the most beautiful deck for my in-laws (we made our own stair stringer as we wanted for their old age 4 steps instead of 3) 🪵🔨
Don’t let the world tell you your limits. 💪❤️
