There is something just magic about making these tiny little collectables.

They will all be up for sale at the weekend.

Every morning i feed the birds a little snack of suet and watch them while drinking my morning coffee.
I have a magpie called marcus who sometimes taps on the window and wakes me up if i sleep in too late.

Yesterday, i was mobbed by starlings. They are a noisy, gregarious bunch and they have fledglings with them as well at the moment so it's extra loud. I love watching their chaos.

After they cleaned out the feeder, i noticed something in there....it was a perfect, tiny little flower bud. Likely accidentally dropped from someones beak when they landed, but i am goimg to let myself believe it was an intentional gift.

Oh my heart ❀️

I had a clear out of some old warm up paintings over the weekend. Not my typical style but definitely more inspired by life in the moment.

My son loved the book 'The snail and the whale' by Julia Donaldson (illustrated by Axel Scheffler)

We read it over and over again, every night before bed for a long time. Books before bed was sometimes exhausting, i would be tired from the day, but still with so much to do, laundy to fold, dishes to wash. Sometimes i would fall asleep with him and be frustrated with myself when i woke up and realised that little snippet of time for me to 'catch up with work' was lost.

Then came the time came when my son got old enough to read on his own before bed. And i missed the sleepy cuddles.

And now, i realised it must be 4 years ago that i painted these. My son has just finished his SATs. And we go for walks in the evenings before bedtime now. And listen to birds, look for stars and catch Pokemon.
Sometimes he stays out late with his friends, comes home and gets straight in the shower before heading to bed and we don't do anything together (and my house has never been so tidy and organised πŸ˜‚)

Time stands still for no-one. In fact, time goes so quickly.

Enjoy every moment 🌻🌟πŸ₯°

I am so grateful for the peace i have found in the last few days, pottering in the garden, making nettle soup, hangimg laundry on the line in the sunshine, watching the sunrise, swimming in the river, and taking walks in the woods with my boy.
I made this tiny little Spring journal to document those moments and save some photos in to look back on.

Canada geese. Birds of the weekend.

We live along the Stour estuary and in spring and autumn we get huge flocks honking in their v formations over our home. I wild swim in the estuary and when i went in yesterday the first of the goslings have been born. I was super cautious as Canada geese are fiercely protective of their nesting sites and young. I didn't outstay my welcome, and i didnt take my eyes off the male (who was watching me the whole time) hopefully we can respectfully co-exist over the coming weeks until the babies are bigger and the parents become less territorial.
I couldn't get a photo of the babies as i didn't want to get too close πŸͺΏπŸŒŠ
