Gwen Reavley Professional Artist

Gwen Reavley is a Nottinghamshire based artist specialising in pet portraits. A Nottinghamshire based artist specialising in pet portraits.

Gwen always loved drawing when she was much younger, but being a wife and mother caused this to take a back seat.

In 2000 she had a life changing accident which shattered her spine and left her having to undergo extensive rehabilitation. However, it was this accident which enabled Gwen to pick up artwork once again. Gwen started working on subjects close to hand, the birds in her garden, her own

family pets and subjects from nature that struck a chord with her creative side. Initially Gwen worked in oils and pastels. Gwen also experimented with botanical art and latterly found an infinity with coloured pencils.

Gwen loves learning through experimentation and found working on the London Art College qualification invaluable.

Gwen finds immense pleasure sitting in her studio and bringing images to life. Nothing compares to that moment when someone sees their commission for the first time.

So recently we’ve been keeping a secret! Gwen’s A6 greetings cards are now available for purchase in the following prints:

Priced at £2 each, the cards are all printed on high quality 340gsm card, and come blank inside for your own message, complete with a white envelope and wrapped in cellophane to ensure your card is kept safe before you take it home!

So we can now post Gwen’s most recent commission, which was a gift for John’s daughters following the sad loss of their young cat Nala.

This was quite a tricky one, and I lost track of the number of sizes, sketches and different papers we went through… But Gwen will not settle until she feels it is 100% right and has the customer’s approval, and rightly so!

Nala was completed in A3 sizing, using coloured pencils on the trusty drafting film (this works amazing to capture the detail in the eyes and soft fur!)

Whilst I’ve been a bit rubbish recently on the socials (sack the admin!) Gwen certainly hasn’t been, and a lot’s been going on behind the scenes!

This is Max, another coloured pencil drawing on A3 Pastel Matt, but with a twist!

We’ve gone a bit technical, discovering a local business Hayman Creative who work their magic to scan Gwen’s original artwork which now means we can offer prints, cards and everything else you could imagine!

If you’d like to see Gwen’s work in person, Max will soon be featuring on the wall at Ravenshead Farm Shop… where they do amazing food and cakes in their - Coffee Shop!

Gwen doing what she does best!

After mastering her last two cat commissions, Gwen wanted to be a bit more adventurous and explore the wild side… and what better way to do it than with a beautiful tiger!

Jack the cat

Gwen’s first cat commission! Which made a lovely Christmas present for Ray’s wife Teresa.

Done to specific sizing on request to match other pieces that the family already own, this piece has fitted right in at their home to remind them of him.

This piece was completed in coloured pencil on drafting film.

Jack was her brother’s collie and has been captured perfectly in A4 sizing using coloured pencils on drafting film.
