I’m making a list of the little things that help when chronic illness is giving me a rough day. Reading is one of the things that really helps me. I can read in bed, and I usually have at least two books on the go (only one fiction, but several non-fiction at the moment, about creativity, writing about art and feminism).

Chronic illness can be frustrating, depressing, overwhelming. I’m trying to find positives in things I can do, to redirect my focus away from my limitations. Little joy number 1 is knitting, and even if I can’t knit today, I can wear the big hug of a cardigan I knitted myself on easier days.

I would love to know what other spoonies, chronic illness sufferers do to lift themselves on the tougher days. Maybe we can lift each other.
