WORLD CUP PRINT No. 5 - 1 DAY CHALLENGE! ❤️💙⚽

We sure are glad that we decided to set ourselves this fun project! It's been a blast to push ourselves time-wise and to try to bring a different approach to football design. As with the last 4 posters, we have looked to our retro Americana wall of inspiration in the studio and decided to go for the ultimate in vintage American design - the mighty college pennant banner. The origin of vintage American high school and college sports design, alongside the letterman jacket.

But with a twist! We wanted to make this poster for everyone watching the game - so the design is flipable depending on who you're supporting! Each pennant is a celebration of the two teams reaching the semi-final stage in the World Cup and it's yours to hang whichever way up you choose!

And so here it is - our 5th, and hopefully not last, World Cup Poster. Let's go!

WORLD CUP SEMI-FINAL 1 DAY PRINT CHALLENGE! ⚽🖤

It's the Quarter Finals! ⚽💙❤️

This is an exciting one for sure! Not only is it the World Cup Quarter Finals, but we've also been really excited to bring this idea to life. We've again been looking at mid-century American sports poster as our main inspiration for this series - you know we can't resist some vintage Americana. So, inspired by a few baseball, boxing and American football posters, we decided on the head-to-head idea for this print. It felt like the right game to bring this idea to life - having such a great rivalry of strikers in Harry Kane and Erling Haaland to play with.

So with hours to spare, here is our 4th, and hopefully not final, World Cup print!

This is an exciting one for sure! We've again been looking at mid-century American sports poster as our main inspiration for this series - you know we can't resist some vintage Americana. So, inspired by a few baseball, boxing and American football posters, we decided on the head-to-head idea for this print. So England are through to the final 16, which means World Cup Poster No. 3!

A new direction with similar inspiration for this one. We still looked at our beloved retro Americana design whilst also looking at stunning vintage Mexican designs for inspiration when it came to typography and style.

The main focus for this was, of course, a vintage game ticket. Something we always find beautiful and satisfying to research. The skillful, and sometimes awkward, use of space to fit in a lot of information. Designed for purpose and the general public and not just for aesthetic reasons, we love to see new (or rather, very old) ways that type was laid out and displayed.

WORLD CUP POSTER # 2! ⚽❤️

Seeing as our first World Cup poster proved to be such a good luck charm and England made their way through to the 2nd round, we decided to create another poster! This one takes a pretty different approach to first typographic design (check out profile if you haven't seen it) and we love the outcome!

Like most people, every 4 years we get a bad case of Football Fever! ⚽ The World Cup is an exciting time, even for us fairweather football fans, and with some of the games this year being hosted in the USA, we wanted to take our interest in vintage Americana design and throw that at the world of football, where it's never really been before.

So, being from the UK, we've designed a poster for the first England game against Croatia. By taking inspiration from retro baseball and boxing posters, letterpress design and vintage typography to marry together two worlds which haven't even been on a date yet. It's the Married At First Sight of the design world (we don't know, we've never seen it).
