Kilim Moroccan rugs are Handmade geometric flat-weave that are generally woven by Berber Woman in many regions in Morocco. You can find them in Khemissat,Tiffelt and Zemmour.
Starting first with khemissat rugs, they have a red ground with designs in black, white, and gold or orange. In the other hand, Tiffelt rugs often have a blue ground and they use rayon thread (sabra). And Zemmour rugs comes in same colours palette as Khemissat and they have the surface design done in squares and a medallion motif in the centre and border.

Some weavers mix both styles, colours hues from the Khemissat as well as the complex Tiffelt designs in the wide bands but it is very hard process which might takes many months to finish one large rug. These rugs can be used on either side, knotted or pile side up for warmth in the winter and flat side up in the hot days.

They are typically low pile and have a fine and neat geometric patterns. There is a big difference between Kilim rugs and other Berber Rugs as the Kilim are made by interweaving the variously closed wefts and wraps, and they are tightly woven and lightweight rugs.

Kilim are generally made from wool and made using the same techniques that have been used for decades some rugs can be 50 years old, so they are literally made to last for years.
They features multiple stripes, bands of geometric designs and symbolic berber motifs, they are easy to clean and stain resistant.
