This heirloom Parker Knoll wing chair has been in my lovely Client’s family for many, many years and still had its original covering. After a bit of a run in with a cat it needed some attention. Recovered in a beautiful print with a woolguard barrier layer and some new springs, it’s now back home and in pride of place for many more years to come.

Who would have thought you could go from a slightly shabby and uninspiring start to such an elegant result? The Antique daybed was purchased by my lovely clients from (who do have very beautiful things) and they chose a Laura Ashley peacock print cotton from for the fixed cushion seat and piped bolster cushions. A perfect piece for an elegant bedroom.

Sometimes it’s what lies beneath that matters. This antique heirloom bench seat needed new webbing and hessian support for the traditional stitched edge upholstery to restore its structure. Careful conservation is sometimes more appropriate than full reupholstery. A crisp dobie weave and double piping smarten the look, ready for another generation to use

I love working on chairs that have family memories. The pair of Danish dining chairs, designed by Johannes Anderson in the 1960’s, needed new seats and a bit more padding to the backs. The frames were given a wax, just to bring out the beauty of the wood. The drop-in seats were a full rebuild as although comfortable, were definitely on the saggy side. The frames were re-glued and dowelled then cleaned and waxed. All covered in a deep blue shot velvet, supplied by my very lovely client.

This 1970’s Montis “The Rock” sofa by Gerard Van Den Berg arrived in kit form…. The leather cover had been shredded by a dog and the foam was degraded and damp. A full rebuild and careful feeding and piecing together of as much of the old cover as could be retained with new leather means it will endure for another 50 plus years.
