Role Overview:
We are looking for a reliable and adaptable Retail Assistant to join our friendly gift shop team. This role involves a mix of independent working and collaboration within a small team, making it ideal for someone who is self-motivated but also values teamwork. You will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, maintaining store presentation, and confidently handling day-to-day operations, including periods of lone working.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a warm and welcoming experience for all customers
- Process sales transactions using till and digital systems
- Open and close the shop independently when required
- Maintain high standards of shop presentation, including displays and cleanliness
- Monitor and manage stock levels, including restocking and reporting low inventory
- Handle customer queries and resolve issues professionally
- Follow security and safety procedures, particularly during lone working shifts
- Support team members and contribute positively to a small team environment
Requirements:
- Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility during lone working shifts
- Confident using technology, including tills, card payment systems, and basic digital tools
- Flexible and adaptable, able to respond to changing priorities
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- A positive attitude and willingness to support a small team
Desirable:
- Previous retail or customer-facing experience
- Interest in gifts, retail, or merchandising
