🎃 We need your help! 👻

Our HART Halloween Party is now just one week away, and ticket sales are currently much lower than we'd hoped.

We've got a hall booked, games planned, prizes ready, music organised and plenty of spooky fun lined up for the children, but we need your support to make the event a success.

🗓️ Sunday 1st November
📍 Subud Hall, Brecon
⏰ 2pm-4pm
🎟️ £6 per child (0-11 years)

We'll have:
🎶 Disco
🎭 Fancy dress competition
🎯 Games
🏆 Prizes
🍬 Snacks

If you're looking for something fun to do with the children next Sunday, we'd love to see you there.

If you can't make it, please consider sharing this post. A simple share could help us reach a family who would love to come along.

Every ticket sold helps support the animals in HART's care and means a great deal to our small rescue.

🎟️ Book tickets here:

Wanted to make something to help a charity and having recently been to visit the Wales Ape and Monkey Sanctuary in Abercrave I decided to make some make up bags and pencil cases for them to sell in the shop. Finally dropped them off yesterday and they were very pleased to have them 😃

I’ve got an update about Midge, and honestly, it’s one I’ve been dreading writing.

Midge has come back into our care, and we’re now looking for his forever foster.

I’m not going to pretend this one hasn’t hit me hard.

When Midge left, I genuinely believed we'd got it right. I let myself feel relieved for him. After everything he’s been through, I wanted so badly for him to finally be where he belonged. I wanted him settled, safe and loved, with rescue life behind him.

So when placements break down, there’s always a part of me that wonders what I missed.

Did I get something wrong?

Should I have read the situation better?

Should I have seen that it wasn't quite the right match?

That's the guilt that comes with rescue. Every time an animal comes back, you can't help but carry a bit of that weight yourself, even when you know deep down that not every placement is going to work.

The truth is, Midge is not your average puppy.

He's an absolutely wonderful little soul, but he comes with a few extra layers. He can find some situations difficult, he needs consistency, patience and understanding, and sometimes what looks right on paper just isn't the right fit in reality.

And I want to make something really clear.

Nobody has failed here.

Not Midge.

Not his foster.

His foster cared enough about him to be honest when things weren't working. That can't have been easy, but it was the right thing to do. Far better to speak up than struggle on and have everyone unhappy.

Sometimes people and dogs just aren't the right match, and that's okay.

What matters is that we listen when that happens and keep moving forward.

The hardest part for me is looking at Midge and knowing that once again, the stability I hoped I'd found for him has disappeared.

Because I know him.

I know the funny, chaotic, mischievous little boy who can make me laugh even on the most stressful rescue days.

I know the puppy who has fought through more than he ever should have had to.

I know the cuddles, the ridiculous antics, the cheeky face, and the way he worms his way into your heart before you've even realised it's happened.

He's not perfect.

But then none of us are.

What he needs is somebody who can see all of him, the easy bits and the challenging bits, and still say, "You're worth it."

Because he absolutely is.

So we're starting again.

And yes, I'm disappointed.

Yes, I'm questioning myself.

And yes, I hate that Midge is having to go through another change.

But what I won't do is give up on him.

He deserves the right home, not just the next home.

If you think you could offer Midge a forever foster home, please get in touch.

And if you can't, please share this post. The right person could be one share away.

I made a promise to this little boy a long time ago that I'd keep fighting for him until we found where he belongs.

And that's exactly what we're going to do. 💛

This isn’t the update I had hoped to give.

Lady has been fighting for weeks, and we have done everything we possibly can with blood tests, ultrasound and X‑ray. The urine results came back today, and while the infection itself appears to be under control thanks to two types of antibiotics, I still have a very poorly girl.

Lady is still urinary incontinent, and her kidneys are not behaving as they should. Her urine specific gravity was 1.010 — far too low. It means her kidneys are not concentrating urine properly, and the urine is actually less concentrated than her blood. That’s a serious sign that something deeper is going wrong.

We have ruled out adrenal gland issues, including Addison’s disease, and we are now at the point where the vets cannot get any further answers without advanced imaging. Lady needs a CT scan. Without it, we are fighting blind.

What makes this even harder is seeing how quiet and subdued she is. Lady should be a bright, bouncy puppy — instead she is soft, gentle and very tired. Even so, she is infinitely affectionate, leaning in for comfort and giving love to anyone who cares for her. She is trying so hard.

The current figures I’m working to are between £5,000 and £10,000. It’s staggering, and of course I worry about whether it’s the right thing. But then I look at her — this tiny, loving, subdued little soul who is still trying — and I know she deserves every chance I can give her.

I am desperately trying to give this little girl every opportunity, but I cannot continue without help. The CT scan is essential if we’re going to understand what’s happening inside her tiny body and give her the treatment she needs.

If you’re able to contribute towards Lady’s next stage of care, it truly matters.
