Question for you lot, and we’re genuinely curious: do people actually like 3D printed stuff?

When we first started about three years ago, we very quickly learned that no one really wanted another 3D printed dragon, so we bounced around a few niches until Darkmoon slowly became what it is now. We try to design as much of our own stuff as possible, but we also got the feeling pretty quickly that a lot of people just don’t like the look or feel of 3D printed items full stop. Lou definitely doesn’t, which is wonderfully inconvenient.

That pushed us into constantly trying to improve what we make. Better resin printing, mould making, casting, laser cutting, cleaner finishing, better materials, better designs, all that deeply glamorous nonsense. We’re always trying to make Darkmoon bigger, stranger and better, both digitally and physically.

So we’re asking honestly: does “3D printed” put you off, or does it not matter as long as the design and finish are good?

Darkmoon Designs turns 3 this month. Three years of designing, 3d printing, mould making, resin casting, painting, having too many bad ideas in between, growing stranger and stranger, packing orders and drinking far too much coffee. Thank you to everyone who has supported our strange little corner of the internet. We genuinely couldn't have done it without you.

The Gilded Wraith has emerged from the shadows.

Finished in antique gold over black, this little spirit has a very different feel to our usual ghosts — aged, mysterious and just a little bit regal.

Standing at 6cm tall, The Gilded Wraith is cast in resin and carefully finished to bring out every fold of its flowing robes.
