Branch-out mk CIC

Branch-out mk CIC Our aim is to encourage positive emotional, mental, physical health & wellbeing through Social & Therapeutic Horticulture.

Offering this through a supported work environment growing cut flowers 💚 You can find us at ‘The Shop on the Square’, Wolverton where we work in collaboration with Future Wolverton. Our cut flower plot is based at Haversham Allotments, with the support from Haversham & Little Linford Parish Council (We have always taken pride in working collaboratively with other local VCSE organisations). Both sh

op and plot offer supported work opportunities to adults living with learning differences & Autism. Our award winning cut flowers are a key component of our sustainable floristry service, which we provide to MK and the surrounding areas. Our shop stocks our own flowers (as well as other British grown flowers when ours may be in short supply, over the winter for example), houseplants and their sundries, outdoor seasonal bedding plants, dried flowers, soaps, smudge sticks, incenses, hand made cards and garden gifts. We are open from Wednesday through to Saturday, 10am to 4pm. We are also open for the Wolverton Square market (occurring on the second Sunday of the month between April and October). If you can’t get to us don’t despair as you can order flowers online, for local delivery, by visiting our website: www.branchoutmk.com (Our customers have ordered from as far afield as Canada, America, Australia & Japan).

Yesterday I spent a wonderfully creative day
I demonstrated how to make gift posies, passing on tips & tricks to a lovely receptive audience.
I also made a large spring bouquet as they provided a plinth, it had to be done!
I hadn’t visited Westbury for a few years and it felt so welcoming and inspiring.
If you haven’t been then look out for future opportunities to have a taster session, it could be eco printing, ceramics, portraits, life drawing, mixed media…
Plus I hope to be doing some workshops there in the not too distant future.
Thanks to all the volunteers and organisers.

The news we have all been waiting for, the regeneration of the old Agora centre. Looking forward to new exciting possibilities.
Thanks to Still Green Cohousing for pushing this all the way.

You may have noticed it’s been a bit quiet over here lately, that’s because I’ve been away. Swimming in the ice cold waters of Finland. What an absolutely beautiful city, this years Capital of Culture, and amazing experience. I did it! Never underestimate the power of you! Breathtakingly beautiful on so many levels. The people are warm, the cakes are amazing, the art installations, exhibitions, museums the snow is deep. But I still managed to find a horticultural project on my meanderings through the frozen park and a florist shop, which I could only peek at from outside. What a trip! Now back to work.

So for the person that thought it was ok to drive into and damage our company vehicle outside the shop then speed away, we have your number. Quite literally, and fortunately you are insured, so expect to be contacted from your insurance provider sometime soon to recoup the cost of repairs and raise your premium.

It would have been so much kinder to come in and own up to what had just happened. Your kid and partner would have felt more proud of you for doing the right thing too I expect.

We are a social enterprise and we help people. We do not make a profit as everything we earn goes back into the business.

This is our company vehicle which now has to be off the road to be repaired, not only affecting the day to day running of our organisation but impacting my daily life as well because it is my only means of transport. Good job my husband who also lives with a physical disability doesn’t have any crucial hospital appointments coming up.

I also won’t be able to deliver our flowers whilst it is off the road or take our service users to the bus stop.

So think about what you’ve done and how it has a knock on effect of time, money and inconvenience for others. Maybe just a scratch in your opinion but a real nuisance for us.

A Red, Red Rose
Inspired by & adapted from
ROBERT BURNS
By me

O my Luve is like a red, red rose
   That’s newly sprung in June;
So why purchase them in February,
T’would blossom all too soon!

So fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
   So deep in luve am I;
Why should I worry about the miles
these roses there do fly!

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
   And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
The chemicals they use my luv,
Will poison all for years to come.

For this is what results my lass,
   While the reservoirs run dry.
No water for the workers kids,
Whose mouths are hanging dry.

And fare thee weel, my only luve!
   And fare thee weel awhile!
A posy of home grown tulips,
Is sure to raise a smile.

And I will ne’re buy roses again, my luve,
   Who travel ten thousand mile.
For my luv is by your side, my dear,
From a garden next a stile.
