Back off to the shop … collecting more stock as we go .. it’s getting dark we’ve spent ages searching for a torch finally found one and the batteries were flat .. found a wind up one and it stays charged for about 30 seconds 😝

Campers we are not can you tell? We found batteries .. nearly dark as we approach the container now 😜🦚

Oh the joys of life The Peacock Emporium 😀🦚

You know when you have one of those days that just doesn’t got to plan even with the best will in the world? Today was it!

Last night bending to put washing in the dryer at nearly midnight after another full on day .. I bent down and something “went” in my back and I was in agony. So today I’ve had to be extra careful and cut back most of what I’d planned.

Poor Wavy has emptied the rest of the first container on his own - I even had to have an afternoon nap I felt so exhausted. I’ve managed to paint two tables and a wall shelf and do a few little things but it’s set me back so much with such a full list still to be done. Tomorrow I’ll have to take up the slack and catch myself up.

I’m going to put all our lampshades in a corner somewhere priced up .. big ones little ones .. there’s a few 😀

There are soooo many pictures, paintings, samplers, canvas pictures, funny prints, all sorts and they have to sit somewhere - we have a massive deep basket on wheels from a mill to store some in it’ll look fab - but that’s still here in our spare bedroom 😀

I up-cycled an old rusted cash register ages ago .. we found it in the back of the container today - it’s very heavy and Wavy had to use superhuman strength to get it into the shop - bless!

I’m going to decoupage the stuff I painted today and I’ve some friends calling by to help set some of the smalls out .. literally hundreds of smalls too .. we won’t be able to display everything, so it’ll be a replace a space, as they sell.

I knew we’d fill every part of the building and I’m not wrong - we are in for a humungous three weeks - hoping to open beginning of October - watch this space 🤞🦚

By now you know I’m a medium too .. this week has been full of signs that my mum is around me .. before she died she made me promise I’d start selling my treasures in business “that I had a good head on my shoulders” and after the life I’d had (abusive coercive long marriage first time round) - I deserved to finally have my time and find out just what I was capable of (free of being told I was a failure and a nothing 🫤). I tentatively started with my unit at Dagfields although it’s taken an extra three years to get here to this beautiful shop - due to my step dad then needing care but once he passed last year it was time to reassess my goals. As we work towards opening the shop this week I’ve felt mum urging me on - twice we’ve heard the song “Mrs Robinson” on the radio, once and home bargains the other day - then I saw a post on Instagram celebrating the marriage of a Mr and Mrs Robinson - her surname when she married my stepdad.

My dad today I feel him and I just suddenly started singing “Pardon me boy, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes?” You’d have to be over 60 to get that joke 😜 he was the eternal joker my dad and he used to sing this to make us laugh .. I haven’t thought of it in years but there I was putting my bra on and I randomly burst into song with this for Wavy who laughed his head off. Mostly because it was whilst I was putting my bra on!!

Our loved ones are never far away and I just know my mum and dad and Art my stepdad, are cheering us both on from the sidelines just as they would have done if they were all still here ❤️🦚

With being so busy for the past few days I completely forgot to mention how wonderful the people of Congleton are in supporting local events. It was the Jazz and blues festival all of bank holiday weekend and oh my did they show up. Every day the high street was flooded with people all entertained in various bars and pubs around town. Come rain and shine they kept on coming and it was a joy to see everyone happy and relaxed. Well done Congleton you did yourselves proud ❤️🦚
