I’ve just started a new project alongside my goldwork module 🤗. The goal was to finish before Christmas but it seems a bit of a push now. I’ve always wanted to stitch a robin since I started learning embroidery. I found it fascinating that there could be a thousand versions of it under the hand of different embroiderers and I want to know how mine would look.

A little window of sea 🌊

It’s actually just a sample for the last module of my RSN Diploma - Creative Metal Threads. I did a jellyfish and a whale for my previous goldwork modules so I thought I’d carry on with the ocean theme.

I’ve used two layers of organdie here to create the ruffled seabed. I’m completely new to fabric manipulation and I found it quite fun and effective to add textures to projects. I have to be careful not to get overboard with the ruffles though.

My next session is in late October so it’ll be a while before I can reveal my design. Hopefully I can squeeze in some projects before that. Stay tuned if you want to see the project takes shape ☺️.

I’ve finally finished my stumpwork version of Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose! Mounted and packed for assessment later. I started this before my daughter was born and now she’s three, so I’m just so relieved it’s finished, no matter the score.
Hope it brightens up this rainy day 🌸🌸.


You may have noticed there aren’t of needlelaced elements. Some are on the stockings, hidden by the flocks.

I’ve been busy “gardening” for the stumpwork module of my RSN diploma. I’ve put it away for too long that I forgot how joyful it is to create little blossoms and leaves and to see the garden flourish. In these photos are tiny lilies, roses and a rose bush. It’s still a work in progress, but hopefully it’s not too long till I can put everything together.
