Our customer wanted the top section of their garden turned into a usable seating area. Due to the different ground levels, we first removed several tree stumps, stones, and a conifer tree to create a clean working space.

We then installed timber sleepers to retain the higher ground level and built a set of steps to provide easy access between the levels.

The customer will now be backfilling the area themselves and finishing it with gravel to create their new seating space.

A great improvement that has transformed an unused area into a practical and attractive part of the garden. 👍

Another job completed today for a customer who wanted their garden separated, so we installed a new 3ft fence along with a gate, all supplied and fitted by us.

A little extra help on this one today too! My oldest son, Leyland (14), joined me as my helper for the day. Making him work for his pocket money 😏🤣

This morning’s work involved repairing and relaying two patio areas at the same property.

The first job was the front Indian sandstone patio, where a couple of slabs had become loose near the gate. After lifting the affected slabs, we discovered they had originally been laid on building sand. Surprisingly, only these two slabs had come loose. The customer also requested repointing, so we repaired the step, relaid the slabs correctly on a sharp sand and cement mortar bed with a slurry primer, and then fully repointed the area.

The second job was the rear patio, where an area adjacent to the house had sunk by approximately 20mm, causing water to sit against the property. Once we lifted the slabs, we found they had been laid on sharp sand alone, with no cement in the bedding mix. Over time, rainfall had caused the area to settle and sink.

To resolve the issue, we lifted and relaid approximately 16–18 slabs using the correct sharp sand and cement mix, ensuring the patio now falls away from the house and allows water to drain properly, preventing any future water build-up against the property.

Another happy customer and two patio problems solved the right way.
