Counting today as a total win. Second day in a row to my studio, moved my last bits in to be organised, and even got started glazing a couple of pieces that have been waiting a long time. I decorated my wall with a few friends too so I have someone to talk to when I’m working alone. So especially in light of what the last couple of months has been like, definitely a win! .

Didi and I had a talk about the art I make. I felt like I needed to try and make things that would sell versus making the art that speaks to me and tells my story. So today I am in my studio while my kiln fires and making the art I want. The one with the 2 faces still needs a frame and the protective covers taken off of the mirrors. The bowl is my first play with resin and is curing slowly. Fingers crossed that the kiln fires fine and these two pieces will find a place to be exhibited. .

I am struggling a bit the last few days (weeks), but made myself come to the studio and work on some things. I have a new addition to the face pot gang (he’ll get some wire after firing to make the sunglasses better) and finished up some things from long ago when challenged us to make some things without using tools. But of course I cheated a bit for the decoration. Hopefully things will look brighter soon, but until then I will create.

Back in the studio after being sick for 3 weeks and then away for 5 days to celebrate my 25th anniversary in Whitby with my beautiful wife. Not back to full strength but very happy to be back and creating. Working on a deadline for these two cards, will have to overnight them on Monday to make it in time. Oh well! .

I’m back, not quite at full steam but back in the studio at least. I spent 3 weeks with back to back health issues and then away for 5 days in Whitby for my 25th anniversary with my beautiful wife. Back at it today working on these 2 cards for a deadline on the 31st, guess I will overnight them. Great to be back More to come soon. .

So the buses in Gateshead are back to running so I was able to move a few more bigger things into ‘Studio 42’. My wire shelves for WIP ceramics and my pegboards to keep my tools from cluttering the workspace. To put the shelves up I had to take some blinds down but was too short so I stood on a bag of clay that I thought was rock hard and I squished it, oh well. And then I had to dissect a dachshund duvet to get cloths for the workshops I’m leading next week. So a weird day in the studio for sure. .

My studio is coming along. My beautiful wife .is.alive helped me get the kiln and slab roller moved in today. And another donation of studio furniture from brought a hat rack in because every studio needs one, right? Starting to glaze some old pieces for an inaugural firing and worked on samples for a project I’m pitching to soon. Busy, but great day! Now just have to figure out how to get home since the buses are on strike. .

So the exhibition is live and these are different angles on my 2 pieces included. The emoji piece is interactive and meant to be played like a game and the two beds reflect safety and vulnerability while trying to sleep. What can possibly be better than spending a day with friends doing a Raku firing. The Rakoons braving the rain and making some people very happy in the end. Including me with 2 very successful pieces out of the first round of firing. Can’t wait to do it again. .
