Sashiko is a very therapeutic 😌 ✨️ form of stitched embellishment. Born out of necessity as most embellishments are, this art form follows rigid grids, which gives it its distinct appeal. 🪡🧵

🪡🧵You can not rush the process, you have to consider the lines and how the needle moves through the fabric and how the thread sits upon the weave.
It gives you the rare opportunity to settle your mind and to only think of the process in hand.

If you enjoy a more thought provoking form of embroidery, sashiko is the technique for you 😉 😏

On a Friday afternoon, our lovely Michelle has been teaching beginners patchwork and just look 👀👁 at these lovely little wall hanging.

So cute 😍 💓 💗

They are moving on now with a Sampler quilt, so I can't wait to see what they will do. Follow us to see their progress 😄😃😀

This week level 2 City and Guilds Creative Textile embroidery group have been taking shapes from an unknown source and creating a design in textiles from them.

We are using the knowledge and techniques from level 1 this year to create some unique pieces of art through the experimentation of shape and form. ♦️♥️♦️ Exciting stuff 🤩🤩🤩

City and Guilds level 2 Textiles 7061.
Such a fantastic course and a shame the powers that be are stopping this creative qualification, but until then I am proud to be teaching this course 😀 😊
We are discovering Shape and Form this year and focusing on design, combining knowledge and techniques from level 1 t o create two amazing pieces of embroidery in Hand Embroidery and one in Machine embroidery.

Every year I start with good intentions to come to terms with social media. Every year, I seem to know less than I did before as technology changes so fast, not even teenagers can grasp it.

So hear I am in my 50's careering towards my 60s, and I'm just going to give it my best shot. Level 1 ladies are embarking on their journey into the wonderful world of textile art, and my super job is to help them on their way, encourage, support, teach skills, and inspire ❤️ 😀

How lucky am I 🤩🤩

We meet on a Wednesday afternoon, and so I bring you their first class, which is Mark making, and in the coming weeks I will document their journey to the best of my social media ability.

I'm going to avoid AI as much as humanly possible as I fon really agree with it. That may be controversial, but I'm an old fashioned kinda girl 🤔😏😬
