These are two organisations I am passionate about. The work both of these organisations do for the community and for tortoise preservation is awesome!

And just a couple of minutes of your time could be earning us hundreds of pounds a month; for free.

It costs you nothing at all. No catches. No faffing; simply sign up and select your art connect and that’s it. The app does the rest every time you shop by scanning the retailer!

Every time you shop online at most major places, from eBay and Amazon to Morrison to Tesco, online companies to high street stores, holiday companies, train companies .. the list is endless!

All you do then is shop as usual online then it will auto ask “do you want to earn for easy fundraising. Click yes and the donation goes straight to us.

You literally don’t have to do a thing other than register and say yes to YAC or Tort Towers (whichever one you select) every time you shop online!

And if you sign up now, each person that signs up earns us another £5 when you first use the app! So imagine if every person on here said yes to one or the other .. that’s over £5000 towards the work of these unpaid volunteers!

Please take just 5 mins to sign up

Help us when you shop with 7,000+ brands. Join now.

Each week I’m going to start up “Wonderful Wednesdays”

I’ll be sharing a small business, upcoming artist, or creative practice so that you can follow, see what others are doing and maybe help build their profiles and business.

Please feel free to share your own creative business if you wish or message me to be put on the Wed profile.

This week I’m sharing the wonderful Boyd art ; a small local Newquay business who’s been doing folk and kitch pieces of artwork for many many years.

I’ve known Sharon for many years; she’s an inspirational mum who’s been through some incredibly tough times and her yet her artwork always reflects happiness and fun, and never fails to make me smile.

Check out her art here.

While my diary for June and July is now almost full for murals, art exhibitions and work with Your Art Connect CIC, I do have an odd gap here and there from late June to July.

August will be packed out with Summer sessions, running the Boardmasters creative field and more mural work, so get in quick if you either want a mural or room makeover booking in.

Reasonable rates with a unique, artistic finish. What more could you want?

Email [email protected] and the lovely Eleri will book you in

PLEASE SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES OR LOSE IT.

Running a small business as an artist is often misunderstood.

What people frequently see is only the finished piece; a painting, a print, a sculpture, but what they rarely see are the hours, days, or weeks of carefully considered and measured work behind it. Every brushstroke carries not only decision-making, but experimentation, love, and persistence. Then there is time spent upskilling and learning new skills , the fails, the refining and having to start again when perfectionism takes over; all before a piece is even ready to be shared!

Pricing artwork can feel like an impossible balancing act. The cost of materials is only a fraction of the story. What is far harder to quantify is the emotional investment and the focus, the creative energy, and the personal connection poured into every piece. For many artists, our work is not just a product or a hobby or a time filler; it is an extension of who we are.

When you buy a piece of artwork, you are not just buying paint on canvas or a piece of clay; you are investing in something deeply personal. That may be a moment of inspiration, a piece of someone’s lived experience, or simply a unique object that cannot truly ever be replicated.

In a world of mass production, this kind of individuality holds real value; whether it is recognised in the price or not.

So please think of people like us when you’re purchasing art or looking for design inspiration in your home.
