Some projects aren’t about chasing trends.

They’re about creating a home that feels deeply personal to the people living in it.

For this Dublin project, we designed a media wall with a slightly different approach. Rather than the usual “TV over the fire” layout, the television was positioned to feel more like artwork on the wall allowing the fire to remain the true focal point when lit, while still creating a comfortable space for movie nights and everyday living.

And then there was the rocker.

Not the obvious modern choice… but one the client absolutely loved. He was willing to part with one, but not both and honestly, I’m glad he held onto it. Homes should reflect the people who live in them, not just what’s trending online.

To help tie everything together, we introduced a bespoke cushion in a complementary fabric that echoed the fiery tones found in the artwork and existing cushions, balancing colour, comfort, and personality throughout the room.

A beautiful new Natuzzi sofa completed the space, creating a room designed for slowing down, relaxing by the fire, and truly living in.

The best part?

Hearing the client say he had “fallen in love with his home again.”

That’s the part of this job that never gets old.

Most people say the same thing when they see a room like this.

“I love it… but I could never do that in my house.”

And I understand why.

Pattern feels risky.
Mixing fabrics feels complicated.
So people play safe with plain colours and neutral walls.

But this room would never have worked that way.

It’s a small space with slanted ceilings, so the design began with the hero piece, a hand-hooked Aubusson rug I found at auction.

From there the rest of the room evolved.

The wallpaper and fabrics have a slight sheen, helping bounce light around the room.
The scale of the patterns creates depth rather than clutter.
And the curtain pole is clear acrylic so it quietly disappears against the wallpaper.

Every element was chosen to make the room feel layered, warm, and full of personality without losing the light.

And then there’s the view.

On summer mornings, the sun rises right outside that window, filling the room with the softest light.

Sometimes the most beautiful rooms happen when you stop playing safe.

✨ At first glance this bathroom looks fairly traditional.

But look a little closer.

The cast iron bath was found and repainted, giving it a second life rather than sending something beautiful to landfill.

The Carrara marble mosaics were laid to mimic the look of a rug on the floor.

And instead of using a standard tile edging strip, I used a painted picture dado rail to break up the wall and add character.

Sometimes the difference between ordinary and memorable is simply one thoughtful detail.

✨ Taking the ordinary one step further.

What detail did you notice first?

Spring has a way of making us look at our homes with fresh eyes.

The darker evenings are lifting, the light is changing, and suddenly we start noticing the spaces that no longer feel quite right.

Maybe it’s a living room that needs a new layout.
A bedroom that feels tired.
Or a home that just needs a thoughtful refresh.

You don’t always need a full renovation to fall back in love with your home. Sometimes it’s colour, better lighting, or rethinking how a room works.

That’s where good design makes all the difference.

If you’ve been thinking about refreshing your space this spring, I’m now taking bookings for upcoming projects and consultations.

Your home should feel like a place you truly love to be.
