A productive afternoon milling up all the short lengths of tree we've had sitting around. Some Spalted Beech, Elm and Holly have given us some nice boards and a few blanks for vases. Now I've got to get ready for the Fairwinds Art Exhibition at Cowes Yacht Haven from the 1st to the 4th May

This London Plane vase has been sat in my workshop for a while so I thought I should finish it!
I've sanded back the blue stain and it revealed some amazing figure and ripple!

The video shows the effect once I'd added gloss lacquer. Final process will be to fine sand the lacquer then polish with Burnishing cream.

More balls and bases ready for tomorrow at the Isle of Wight County Show.

I'll be down in the woods with the Isle of Wight Coppice Group. There will be loads to see and do, hands on craft demonstrations and the new Retort Charcoal Kiln will be on display.

Open 10pm to 5pm Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th.
