Restoration of a Late Victorian painted slate surround, being done by myself.
Paint scraped off to reveal a faux effect marble with gold inlay, (which will be removed)
Surround has then been sanded with a P60 grit sanding disk on a stone polishing machine followed by P120,220,320 and P500 sandpaper polishing disks, followed by a hand sand, then sealed giving a black finish and enhancing the veins in the slate.
I’ve a few finishing touches to do before completion on my next session.
Time scale so far 15 hours over 2 days
