Pressure treated or dip treated — what's the real difference? 🪵
This one question can save you a lot of money and hassle over the life of your building.

Dip treated timber — timber briefly immersed in treatment. Surface protection only. Will need retreating every 1–2 years to maintain warranty and prevent rot.

Pressure treated timber — treatment forced deep into the timber fibres under pressure. Protection that lasts 10–15 years. Typically carries a longer manufacturer guarantee against rot and wood eating insects.

The upfront price difference is often less than people expect — but the long-term difference in maintenance time and cost is significant.

Our advice? Go pressure treated wherever your budget allows.

Summer is the best time to treat your timber building 🪵
If you've got a wooden shed, summerhouse or log cabin, mid-summer is actually the ideal time to treat it. The timber is dry, the weather is settled, and a treatment applied now will cure properly before autumn arrives.

What to do:
🧹 Give it a thorough clean first — remove algae, dirt and old flaking treatment
🌡️ Wait for a dry spell of 2–3 days minimum
🖌️ Apply a quality wood treatment or stain — two coats for best protection
🔍 Check door and window seals, hinges and roof felt while you're at it
