I do not usually do general alterations anymore but when my nephew ripped he’s Jean I just had to help!

Alterations aren’t something you get taught as you need to know how garments are constructed to understand the best way to alter them.

If you have garments you would like to alter and need help with, why not come to our sit and sew workshop in June?

It’s a great way to start or finish a project or to get advice on how to go about doing some alterations

If yes to any of the above why not book on to out June Sit & Sew workshop in June

Come and sew with like minded people and get advice and help from us to finish that project or start a project. Meet new people and learn new skills and tricks on the way.

What to expect at a Sit and Sew

A “Sew and Sit” (or “Sit and Sew”) workshop is a social sewing session. This workshop is where participants bring their own projects to work on in a supportive, communal environment. Unlike a structured “learn-to-sew” class, these sessions are designed for relaxed, self-paced creation with varying levels of guidance.

Here is what generally happens at a Sit and Sew workshop:

• Work on Your Own Projects: Participants bring “UFOs” (Un-Finished Objects) to complete, such as quilting projects, dressmaking, or alterations.
• Support and Guidance: While it is mostly social, these sessions often include an expert or tutor on hand to provide help with fitting, technical difficulties, or to offer advice on challenging projects.
• Socializing and Networking: It serves as a community gathering for sewists to meet like-minded people, chat, de-stress, and share inspiration.
• Access to Equipment: There will be an over locker on hand if you need one for your project but it ideal to bring your own sewing machine if you need one.

Morning all - it’s been a long time and the first Christmas in 14 years not in the shop

I’m playing with an idea to start up a sewing club once a week starting late January in Duston as a community get together.

I’m Also thinking about starting up sewing classes again

Both located in Duston Village

I would really appreciate if you could share your interest for these ideas with me in the comments before I commit to hiring the hall
