A reminder of where to locate your carbon monoxide detector. If not located in the correct location it may not save your life!
Corona Virus - With the government recommendations to work from home when possible, the elderly and vulnerable to stay in, plus self-isolation where needed or required. Your fireplace, stove or other burning appliance may be having a far longer burning season than previous years.
We at Fire Safe Chimney Sweep Services have decided to TEMPORARILY close our diary to bookings for the minimum next 3 week's (could be extended), unless you believe you have an emergency blockage and or have no other form of heating.
By following some simple recommendations, we feel that the following points it may help to keep you and your family safe and not have an additional worry.
Things to bear in mind during this unusual time:
1. Check your Carbon Monoxide alarm weekly and it is in the correct location. (See main picture).
2. Use quality fuels, DO NOT use wood or coals that are damp or wet.
3. Do not slumber the fire appliance overnight (Try to keep it going through the night for the morning).
4. Remove the Baffle / Throat plate (This is the plate that sits inside the stove, either resting on lugs or on the side fire bricks themselves), and clear any debris on top and re-fit.
5. If any door / glass rope seal is worn try to replace yourselves. (If you can get the parts required posted via the main manufacturer, Ebay or other suppliers). Try the ‘how to’ Youtube videos or you are welcome to contact myself to talk or video to guide you through it.’
6. If you have never used the fire appliance, don’t until it has been checked.
Once the virus situation is fully under control and safe we will resume our normal working hours as it is safe to do so.
We can however take your details for bookings and be in contact as soon as safely possible.
Please keep safe, take care and we’ll see you when this is all over.
Thanks
