Today's the day! We're all set up for our Scrapadoo One One-Day Creative Retreat: Painting & Sewing Escape.

Christmas craft workshops are always popular at Scrapadoo in our cosy Bullpen studio with beautiful countryside views.

Our November workshops include painting a Christmas scene with Dee, silk painting, Batik and autumn needlefelting.

No experience is necessary, this is a fun and relaxing way to learn a new skill and you take home your very own creation. A great way to spend time with friends and family in the busy run up to Christmas.

Our natural foliage Christmas wreath workshops on 28 and 29 November and 5 December are filling up fast.

Hi I'm sure it's been a while since I updated all Scrapadooers with my story. So, here's a quick few fun facts about me....

💚 I always made my own clothes as a teenager until I discovered Etam and teen Fashion.

💚 I started sewing again 9 years ago and found my passion.

💚 I do get a bit over excited when a new sewing project goes well. Conversely, I get cross when it goes wrong 🤣

💚 I get a real buzz when I've helped a nervous new sewer to make their first project.

💚 I love it when a group in The Bullpen get on well and support each other.

💚 When I was in the Brownies, I knitted a jumper for my teddy and got my knitting badge.

💚 I could easily try every craft, knitting and sewing thingie there is, but I'm trying to reign it in. A bit. Well, actually, not at all 🤣

💚 Dog or cat person? Neither! I love my little brown hens

💚 I love going away in our campervan with my hubby, Andy and always take a few hand sewing projects with me, but never get time to do them. One day I will 🤞.

Thank you for all your custom, support and ideas. It keeps me going and makes me happy. I hope I've helped to make you all happy, in a small Scrapadoo way 😃.

Scrapadoo One Day Painting and Sewing Retreat

🍄 Step away from the busy everyday and treat yourself to a day of creativity, calm and connection.

🎃 We have an autumn theme for our second creative retreat in Mid Cheshire. Think of autumn leaves, pumpkins, woodlands, owls and mushrooms.

🍁 In the morning enjoy a mixed media painting or silk painting workshop, followed by a vegetarian lunch and time to chat.

🍂 In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to try acrylic painting or a little hand sewing project.

🍄 End the day with tea and cake and time to reflect on your creative day.

I've just experienced a very enjoyable walking weekend in The Peak District with a group of lovely, chatty ladies. The weather was much better than forecast so we had a brilliant time. Ive got a sore throat from talking so much. We go every year, so you'd think we would run out of things to talk about, but we never do 🤣.

Wednesday night's After School Sewing Clubs were full of spooky activity. Bunting, waistcoats and cushions in Halloween fabric (Asda Duvets as you're asking) were all created. They love chatting and having fun, it's amazing that they produce anything at all 🤣 🎃

Knutsford artist Dee Griffiths and I are getting very excited about One-Day Creative Retreat: Painting & Sewing Escape.

In the morning there’s a choice of an acrylic painting workshop with Dee where you can paint an autumnal leafy owl on canvas, or a gorgeous woodland mushroom silk painting with Hilary.

Home made vegetarian curry with extras is on our lunchtime menu and there's plenty of time to chat and relax.

Our afternoon workshops have a pumpkin theme, paint a picture on canvas with Dee, or hand sew some fabric pumpkins. You can then create a beautiful, natural willow wreath with dried flowers and your custom made fabric pumpkins.

Help yourself to tea, coffee and cake throughout the day, so what's not to like?

Well, I can't improve on this. 4 reasons why kids should learn to sew and crochet:

1. Kids use a different part of their mind when doing a new activity whivh helps them to keep it clear, active and focused.

2. Improves hand to eye coordination

3. Helps them to become absorbed in a task which improves concentration and keeps them off their phones

4. They can xplore their creative side which releases dopamine.
