Argent and Sable are makers of vintage fairground inspired signs. The eclectic and nostalgic signs are made using reclaimed materials and authentic fairground cabochon lighting. I’ve very nearly finished building my website, but while the last few things are being sorted—and my time is being stretched getting ready for my November residency… eeeek!—I remembered the good old landing page.

Website coming soon page: up and running. Anxiety levels: soothed! 😂

You’ll find a link to all the workshops I’m offering in November, along with the opportunity to sign up for my monthly newsletter, where I’ll share creative news, new workshops and anything else I think you might enjoy reading or seeing.

The link is below. I’d love to hear what you think of it so far—it’s always a little nerve-racking putting your work out into the world!

It is always such a privilege to spend time with the wonderful people who attend my workshops. They are always so kind and generous in spirit, bringing fun, good humour and warmth to the space.

Thank you all for coming, for making it so special and for sharing your words and the stories behind them with us all.

And I salute you all for being the speediest bunch I’ve had so far! Your concentration was admirable. If I’d known, I’d have brought my sheet of gold stars! 🌟

So many fabulous signs, I loved every single one! 🤩

A special thank you to David for messing with my poor dyslexic head by spelling Rhymes as Wrhymes — very wry indeed! 😂 And for gifting me a beautiful little haiku inspired by the workshop.

What a lovely way to sum up an afternoon spent painting, chatting and creating together. ❤️

Thank you as always to the The Old Piano Shop for letting me use your beautiful space and the The Bicycle Shop for keeping us refreshed - such lovely lovely people 🥰
I can’t wait to be there for the whole of November - it’s going to be so much fun 🤩

I’m delighted to be collaborating with the very talented Julia Headland of on Upper St Giles, Norwich, for a full-day painted furniture workshop as part of my November residency at The Old Piano Shop

Julia has spent over 30 years restoring, painting and transforming furniture, developing her own beautiful signature finishes using chalk paint, tinted waxes and distressing techniques.

Her work has taken her to clients across the UK and US, and she’s taught furniture painting workshops throughout Norfolk for many years.

I particularly love how Julia describes her approach:

“From restoring decoratively painted antique marriage chests and cupboards to giving well-used furniture a fresh coat of beautiful colour, I love creating subtle, patinated finishes that honour a piece’s age and the life it’s lived.”

During the day, Julia will share her knowledge, techniques and tricks of the trade, guiding you through preparing, painting and finishing your own piece of furniture.

And I’ll be joining her, sharing our mutual love of old furniture, colour and giving forgotten pieces a new lease of life.

Throughout the day, you’ll have access to our extensive range of beautiful Annie Sloan Annie Sloan Chalk Paint® , experimenting with colour, finishes and techniques to create something that’s uniquely yours.

Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or you’d simply love to develop your skills, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn from years of experience in a relaxed, friendly and supportive environment.

Friday 20 November | 10am–4pm

The Old Piano Shop, St Benedict’s Street, Norwich

£145 per person

All materials, light lunch and refreshments included.

Bring along a small piece of furniture you’d love to transform. We’ll help you bring it back to life!

So, it looks like I’m diving headfirst into a month’s residency at The Old Piano Shop on St Benedict’s Street, Norwich! WTAF 😳 🤣

The opportunity came about quite by chance, and Dusty encouraged me to take the plunge and give myself a whole month in a space where I can explore where I want to go creatively, what I want to do and what might come next.

So I’m doing it and I’m excited and slightly terrified!!

It’ll be a space to explore my love of folk art, combined with my passion for painting old furniture and giving beautiful old pieces a new lease of life. A place to experiment, create new artwork and see where it all takes me.

During the residency, I’ll be decoratively painting a huge French armoire (what have I let myself in for?! 😂), surrounded by my hand-painted furniture, art work, a collection of antiques and beautiful old things, alongside work from a couple of guest artists.

It’ll also be a space for collaboration and creativity, with an exciting programme of workshops hosted by myself and fellow creatives. From decorative painting and sign making to painted furniture, Indian block printing, and Christmas wreath making.

The workshops are already live on my Eventbrite page, with more details to follow. My new website will hopefully be live soon too.

And blimey, have I got a lot to do! 😂🤪

I’d love you to join me for my Open View on Saturday 7 November, 5–8pm.

Come along, have a drink, explore the space, mingle and have a good old catch-up.

And if you can’t make it, please do pop in during the month and say hello. I’d love to see you.

4–28 November | Wednesday–Sunday, 10am–5pm

The Old Piano Shop
19 St Benedict’s Street, Norwich

The rumours are true.

The word is out… well, it is now!

You may have noticed an absence of signs, sharing and promoting around here lately.

I’ve been on a bit of a pivot — although admittedly it’s lasted a few years and there have been a fair few pivots behind the scenes ( I’ve made myself quite dizzy 😂) Gardener, garden designer, antique dealer, workshop host and now decorative artist… and I think I’ve finally landed in the right place 🥰🤩

Argent & Sable was only ever meant to be a temporary thing for me. I promised Dusty I’d give him one day a week to help him get it set up… 14 glorious years later I was still there!

After finishing my textile degree, I hardly picked up a paintbrush to create work of my own — work that felt like me. But children grow up, life changes, Dusty has moved onto different projects and I’m finally able to do ME.

So while I want to thank every single one of you for your support, purchases and cheerleading over all these years, it’s time to bid farewell to Argent & Sable.

But this isn’t really an ending. It’s the beginning of something that feels very exciting.

Change is good. Change is welcome. A new chapter is here.

This page will shortly be changing from Argent & Sable to Danielle Neale Art, and I really hope you’ll stick around to see where it goes.

I’ll still be working with words, paint, old things and all the things I’ve loved along the way — just in a way that feels much more like me.

And rather appropriately, one of the first pieces from this new chapter is my FLOURISH sign.
A word that feels rather perfect for where I am now — and where I hope to go.

Here’s to flourishing.
Danni xx
