Do Blue 💙 | That’s a wrap!

Throughout October we've been taking a closer look at the relationship between workplace design and the everyday working environment.

From creating places to pause and connect, to bringing nature into the workplace and designing for different ways of working, we've explored how thoughtful design can help remove some of the unnecessary frustrations from our working day.

But there's an important distinction: good workplace design isn't a replacement for mental health support.

That's why campaigns like Do Blue, and organisations such as Norfolk & Waveney Mind, are so important.

Mental health is something we all need to talk about, and access to appropriate support matters.

We're proud to have supported Norfolk & Waveney Mind and to have used our own area of expertise, workplace design, to be part of the conversation.

Thank you to everyone who has followed along, shared our posts or got involved. 💙

Do Blue 💙 | Designing spaces for connection

Not every important workplace conversation happens in a meeting room. Sometimes it's the five-minute chat over coffee, the conversation that happens while someone waits for lunch, the spontaneous idea that comes up because two people happened to sit down together.

Workplace design can create opportunities for these informal moments by giving people comfortable, welcoming spaces to gather.

And while no office layout can manufacture connection, it can make it easier for people to interact when they want to.

Sometimes the most important meeting of the day isn't on your calendar.

We're proud to be supporting Norfolk & Waveney Mind's Do Blue campaign this October. 💙

Do Blue 💙 | Design for movement

When we think about workplace design, we often think about desks and chairs, but what happens between the desk and the chair matters too.

We spend a huge amount of our time at work, so creating opportunities to move, pause and change our surroundings can help break up the working day.

Could your workplace make it easier to:

🚶 Take a walk to a meeting, or have a walking meeting
☕ Step away from your screen for a coffee
🪑 Move between different types of spaces
🌿 Get outside for some fresh air
🤝 Have an informal conversation somewhere other than a meeting room

Movement doesn't have to mean a lunchtime gym session. Sometimes it's simply about designing a workplace where you're not expected to stay in the same spot all day.

Small choices in layout can create more opportunities to pause, reset and move throughout the working day.

Could your workplace encourage a little more movement? 💙

Do Blue 💙 | Designing for Different Ways of Working

One person needs complete silence, another works best with a bit of background noise, someone else needs to get up and move around every half an hour, and another person needs somewhere private for a confidential call.

We're all different, so why would we expect everyone to work well in exactly the same environment?

Good workplace design can provide choice: spaces for collaboration, focused work, meetings, informal conversations and moments of quiet.

It's not about designing the perfect office, it's about recognising that people are different, and giving people an environment that can thrive.

Bluespace is going Blue this October 💙

This October, we're proud to be supporting Norfolk & Waveney Mind's 'Do Blue' campaign, helping to raise awareness of mental health and the importance of having conversations about it.

Mental health affects all of us, and with many of us spending a huge part of our lives at work, the workplace is an important part of that conversation.

As a commercial design, fit-out and furniture company, we'll be looking at workplace wellbeing through a design lens throughout the campaign, exploring how the spaces around us can support better working days.

We'll be talking about everything from nature and movement to acoustics, privacy, connection and creating places to pause.

Blue by name. Blue for a good cause. 💙

Follow along throughout October as we Do Blue for Norfolk & Waveney Mind.

New Case Study! And this time, it's our turn.

After months (or years...) of planning, designing, making decisions, changing our minds and making more decisions, we're very happy to finally share the finished result.

From space planning and finishes through to furniture and those all-important final details, the project has been a brilliant opportunity to put our own approach into practice, with the help of our amazing contractors.

It's important to practice what you preach, and our new office definitely demonstrates everything we stand for - good workplace design should be practical, considered and designed around the people who use it 💙

Is your office still working for the way your business works today?

Businesses change, teams grow and working patterns evolve, it's important to make sure your office keeps up with these changes!

Maybe you've gone paperless but still have banks of filing cabinets. Perhaps your team now works flexibly, but you're surrounded by rows of desks. If meeting rooms are constantly booked, storage is overflowing, or finding somewhere quiet to work has become a daily challenge, these could all be signs that your workplace isn't quite keeping up with the way your business works anymore.

And that doesn't necessarily mean you need to start from scratch. Sometimes a clever reconfiguration, better zoning, updated furniture or a few targeted changes can completely transform how a space works.

It's not always about having more space. Sometimes it's about making better use of the space you already have.

Thinking your workplace could work harder for you? Let's talk.

Work in Progress ✨

Here’s an early look at a project we’re currently bringing to completion in King’s Lynn.

This has been a full-scale project, encompassing everything from electrical and HVAC works to partitioning, ceilings, bespoke joinery, WC refurbishment and furniture.

We’re now in the final stages, so we’re looking forward to sharing more of the finished space very soon!

New Case Study now Live!

Furniture supply for Gateway 14 - Skills and Innovation Centre.

A fantastic collaborative project with Frank Shaw Architects, delivered by Wilten Construction for Jaynic.

This project was a brilliant opportunity to bring together our fantastic network of furniture suppliers and installers to create a considered, cohesive space with a great team behind it.

A real pleasure to be part of such a great project from start to finish. ✨

Inspiring places for inspiring people - Norwich Samaritans

'It was such an honour to design the place where people wear superhero capes and do what most can't - listen to you when you need to be heard.

The brief? Make it feel like home. Give the volunteers all the comfort they need to carry on doing what they do best, because this has to be the place where 'Ordinary people do extraordinary things'.' - Filipe Fernandes, Interior Designer at Bluespace
