Kitchen relocation - is it worth it?

We moved our kitchen from the front of the house to the back to make the most of the garden views and create a lighter, brighter space. We added traditional French doors to open straight onto the garden, completely changing how we use the space day to day.

Moving a kitchen is no small feat — you’ll need to think about plumbing, electrics, ventilation, structural changes, and in some cases building control approval. Budget-wise, relocating a kitchen can easily add 30–50% to the typical renovation costs, depending on services and finishes.

Worth it? Absolutely. This room is the heart of the house and the views and light are simply divine — not regretted this decision once. 💛

I’m so happy the sunshine and warm weather is back - I even went for a run today. 😂

I love Spring - it’s my favourite time of the year, it’s so full of hope and new beginnings. I love how nature is changing almost daily during this time of the year, surprising us with fresh greenery, blossoms and blooms in every corner.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend ahead and manage to take a few minutes to pause and breathe and admire our beautiful planet in all its glory.

80 years on, we’re marking the day with jam jars, herbs, and flowers, bunting and a simple get together between neighbours. These simple, peaceful pleasures feel just right.

Here’s a little before-and-after of a three-bed flat we refurbished earlier this year.
It wasn’t the most exciting project, just a quick refresh to prepare it for sale.

But what it does show is the huge impact natural light and your outside space can have on your interiors.

If your home boasts a beautiful view, make the most of it. Keep your windows clear and let the beauty of the outside in.

And if your home doesn’t have a great view, before you block it with blinds or curtains, ask yourself - could you create one? Could you plant some shrubs, hedges, or even just a few pots to create a focal point and give you privacy at the same time?

As we’re all craving more time in nature and bringing more greenery indoors, we shouldn’t forget the connection to the outside. Whether you work with a landscape gardener or try your own hand at planting, you might be surprised how much it transforms your space - often without spending much inside at all.

In this flat, we kept the white walls, cleaned the existing tiles, laid a new lighter floor, and added a few black accents to bring in a contemporary edge. But honestly, none of that would shine quite as much without the stunning view outside.

So my top tip: don’t just design a room — design the view.

I thought I’d better put a brief post up to remind you that I am still here and to prove that I have somehow manage to decorate for Christmas!

This last month we have battled many bugs, a 5 hour stints at the NHS walk-in centre for a suspected thumb fracture, two trips to the hospital fracture clinic, countless school activities and of course I ended up being busier this month with client work this month than in the three months leading up to December! But it wouldn’t be Christmas if it wasn’t like this, right?! 😂

I’m off to the shops now to locate some amaretti biscuits so I can make my mum’s Cognac parfait for Christmas, although I substitute the Cognac for Grand Marnier. I can tell you, it’s divine! 💫
