We've just arrived home from a trip to Australia to visit relatives. However, instead of the sunny days we expected, we experienced two weeks of rain!! This photo of a beautiful Flame Vine flower was taken on one of the few sunny days at the beginning of the trip.

Orange and green can be a difficult colour palette to work with, but the key is to use the colours sparingly and include plenty of neutral textures and natural materials in the scheme.

The fabric is Linwood Faroe - Tangerine

This photo was taken by friend Sharon on a family outing to the aquarium, while on holiday in Toronto, Canada. The intense blues and greens, when used thoughtfully, could provided a great colour palette for a dramatic interior scheme.

While in Devon last month, we visited Overbecks near Salcombe. It's a beautiful sheltered garden over looking the Kingsbridge Estuary. These beautiful plants caught my eye (I think they might be coleus??). Their gorgeous, rich orangey reds are complimented beautifully by the bright greens of the foliage, the light terracotta of the pots and the slightly faded blue of the seat metalwork.

At first glance you probably wondered what on earth the subject of this photo was! Well, while we were in Devon the other month, we walked to Challaborough and at the far end of the beach we found these amazing rocks with patches of pink and blue...perfect for a colour inspiration post 😊.

As soon as I saw the photo I was reminded of this fabric from Arley House - Cinnabar, Heather.

This is a photo that I have had in my colour file for ages, but never got round to using as I wasn't sure how inspiring it was.

However, decided to give it a go and I really love the colour palette that it has inspired. My husband took this photo a few years ago at Fountains Abbey in Yorkshire. The various shades of mossy greens and warm stone colours work well together and create a really useable colour scheme.

The fabrics are from The Pure Edit and Warwick fabrics.

I love using pinks and greens in combination, but you do have to be careful not to make them look too sugary and sweet. These shade are slightly muted in tone and the dark mulberry and forest green add depth to the lighter shades.

Earlier in September we manged to get a few days away in Devon. The weather was mixed and the day we visited Coleton Fishacre, near Dartmouth, was particulary damp. This beautiful National Trust Property has long been one of my favourite places, and even in the drizzle it still inspired me and I fell in love with both the house and garden all over again.

The warm stone colour of the exterior of the house, along with the autumn colours that were just begining to appear in the garden, inspired this week's colour palette.

I tend to be more of a 'green person' than a 'blue person' and I generally prefer warm shades to cooler ones. But there is something wonderfully calming and at the same time refreshing, about this palette; perfect for a bedroom or relaxing sitting room.

The fabric is 'Suhani, Azure' from 'The Pure Edit'.
