Vale Upholstery (formerly of Woodborough Road, Mapperley) has recently moved to a new unit in Lambley, Nottingham. Established in 1976, we are a third generation family business, specializing in all aspects of re-upholstery.

This sofa has been given a fresh new look in a lovely warm, neutral fabric with an intricate pattern, complemented by two matching small stools with traditional gathered skirts.

This much-loved G Plan suite has been beautifully reupholstered in a warm mustard fabric, with the original wooden frames and distinctive button detailing retained.

These chairs have had a bold new look with a vibrant Balmoral Mozaic fabric, bringing together a fantastic mix of colour and pattern. The deep buttoning really shows off the fabric beautifully too, giving the chairs plenty of character.

We love seeing customers choose something a little more adventurous. After 50 years of upholstery, we’ve worked with all sorts of fabrics and styles, but there’s still something rather satisfying about seeing a piece like this come together. ❤️

A lovely pair of chairs given a complete new look with fresh upholstery. We’ve used a striking blue, grey and cream Cristina Marrone fabric which really brings out the shape and character of these stylish chairs.

From the pattern matching to the finishing details, it’s all about taking the time to get those little things right. And as we celebrate 50 years of Vale Upholstery this year, it’s a great reminder of why we’ve been doing what we do for so long — giving good furniture a new lease of life. ❤️

A little bit of colour for the workshop! 🌈

This chair has been given a complete new look, reupholstered in the wonderfully vibrant Cristina Marrone Extravaganza velvet.

With its mix of rich colours and textured finish, it certainly isn't a fabric for those looking to blend into the background — and we think it works brilliantly on this chair. The pattern has been carefully worked around the shape to make the most of this beautiful fabric.

Another piece given a new lease of life by the team in our Nottingham workshop. And as we celebrate 50 years of upholstery this year, it's lovely to still be working with such characterful fabrics and furniture after all these years. ❤️

There’s something rather special about a traditional Chesterfield, and this one was certainly worth bringing back to life.

This well-loved sofa came into the workshop showing plenty of signs of its years, so we stripped it back and set about restoring and reupholstering it, including all that beautiful deep buttoning.

The finished result is a beautiful red fabric that really suits the classic Chesterfield design — while still retaining the character and shape that made the original so special.

It’s exactly the sort of work we’ve been doing for 50 years this year — giving good furniture another chapter rather than seeing it replaced. ❤️

There’s something rather special about a chair like this… ✨

We recently reupholstered this beautiful, ornate chair in Linwood Helter Skelter, with its soft sage green and warm contrasting pattern. The fabric has been carefully worked around the curves of the chair, with double piping detail adding that extra touch of definition.

We love projects like this, where a beautiful old frame gets a completely new lease of life while retaining all of its original character.

It’s a great example of what we do here at Vale Upholstery — combining traditional upholstery skills with beautiful contemporary fabrics to create something that feels completely at home today.

And with 2026 marking 50 years of Vale Upholstery, it’s particularly nice to see traditional craftsmanship continuing to be at the heart of what we do. 🪡

💜 A fresh new look for this sofa bed!

There's something especially satisfying about giving a practical piece of furniture a complete makeover. This sofa bed has been fully reupholstered in a rich plum fabric, bringing a splash of colour while keeping all of its everyday functionality.
Whether it's used as a comfortable sofa, an occasional guest bed, or both, a quality reupholstery can completely transform the look and extend the life of a well-made piece.

Knowle sofa, reborn in olive velvet 🌿

There's a reason the Knowle has stayed in fashion since the 1600s — those drop-down sides, the tasselled cords, that generous depth. It's a shape that deserves a proper fabric, and this rich moss green velvet does it justice.

The frame on these old Knowles is usually solid hardwood and built to last generations — so instead of replacing it, we bring it back better than new. Same sofa, another lifetime of use.

A classic British favourite, restored for many more years of comfort. ✨

We recently had the pleasure of reupholstering and repolishing this beautiful Cintique chair, giving it a fresh new lease of life while preserving everything that makes it so special.

Founded in the 1900s, Cintique built its reputation on exceptional comfort, quality craftsmanship and timeless design. Many of their pieces are still found in homes today, a testament to just how well they were made.

With brand-new upholstery and a beautifully refinished wooden frame, this chair is now ready to be enjoyed for many years to come.
