Community Project: We need your help!

We’ve been given the go ahead from Oakham Castle and the Council to redecorate the Commemorative Remembrance Arch in the Castle grounds. As you can see the ceramic poppies from many years ago aren’t fairing too well, the heat from this summer has cracked them and some vandalism, means there aren’t many left.

I’m hoping to get as many knitted and crocheted poppies as possible to redecorate it! And I need your help!

I’d like this to be a real community effort, so we can feel that we all feel like we’ve had a part in reinstating the arch.

Are you able to crochet or knit Red poppies and drop them in to Darn Knit?

They are needed by Thursday 22nd October, to ready in time for all the Remembrance Day plans of the Town.

Please if you can spare some time to make a few to drop in the shop so I can attach them in time, I would be extremely grateful ❤️

I cannot wait to redecorate the arch with everyone’s beautiful handmade poppies ❤️

This time last week we were clearing down from Yarndale, and then we came straight home in to the swing of Yarnstravaganza so I haven’t had the time to post anything.

We had a lovely time at Yarndale, as always! The yarn, the people, the sheep, the views, we just love it so much ❤️

Whilst we were at Unravel I had great fun pairing up lace yarns with the Fyberspates Vivacious Botanical Double Knit. There are so many options, whether you want to tone it down or make the colours pop!

Here I’ve picked out mixtures of Fyberspates Cumulus, Along Avec Anna Silk Mohair and the new Baa Ram Ewe MoWool.
