2025 marks 40 years of making pots, I started out in 1985 as a 16 year old apprentice at Appin pottery and spent two short spells at Winchcombe pottery as part of my training and since 1988 I have been here at Argyll pottery .

Throwing some beakers today, these were one of the first pots I threw as an apprentice back in 1985 and they really tested my throwing skills to the limit as there's just enough clay to work with and trying to figure out how to use it and at the same time get the shape right . When you hone your skills on pots like this then any other shape seems easier as the time spent getting a beaker right was really time spent learning how to throw and that was for me time well spent as it then became a life spent making a living as a craft potter.

Showroom filled up again after Fridays wood firing, as you can see from these photos I make a full range of useful pots . For over 40 years I have stayed true to my self and the tradition I follow where pots are made to a high standard and priced at a point where folk can use them day in and day out .
