We were treated to a visit by the Oban Fire Brigade today, distributing leaflets about fire safety for our customers. You’re welcome to drop in to pick one up from us.

And yes, I was very excited by the shiny fire engine and I did get to sit in it!

After a difficult winter, we are now finding the lead times for most of the popular stoves are improving slightly, plus we currently have stock of 12 different Woodwarm, Charnwood and Morsø models including the Charnwood Aire 5 shown below.

Surveys are available, and we can draw up chimney systems from your plans for new builds and extensions.

Over forty years of service

Backwoodsman Stoves was started by Andrew McIntyre in 1977, and originally ran from his home in Barcaldine. Early deliveries were made using a 2CV with trailer, and he made frequent trips across the west coast and out to the islands with this. Now, more than 40 years later, the company is still based in Barcaldine, but in a purpose built premises which includes a showroom. Andrew’s original ethos of providing excellent service and quality products has seen the company continue to grow and it now has four employees, three of which are McIntyres!

Backwoodsman still provides a service for the west coast including the inner and outer islands, but times have changed and we now have the benefits of CAD drawings, modern equipment and a van to help us. We still get called out to see stoves that Andrew supplied over thirty years ago, and have many repeat customers who know that they can trust us to provide them with the best possible service.
