Here’s a porcelain lidded jar that we refired in the train kiln in North Devon last week. You can find Pop and Jez and their beautiful work at Bovey as well.

This porcelain mug dipped in a flashing slip picked up a dramatic cloudscape of wood ash in our last firing. Usually the 50/50 feldspar and kaolin slip goes more bright orange in the kiln but this firing produced a lot of russet tones, more of a moody kind of warmth.

I’ve got more woodfired pots coming with me to Devon Day Craft Fair this weekend June 5-7 (open 10-4) EX31 4LP

The next weekend June 12-14 you can catch me for the first time at Bovey Tracey!

Earlier this month we unloaded the Kigbeare Kiln and I’m delighted to share that a selection of these new pots are now up on my online shop.

This was my first time leading the firing at the studios where I’m based in Devon. Although it felt like a baptism by fire, I feel really grateful to have had the chance to learn from this incredible facility, and to earn the kiln gods’ blessings on these special pots to boot.

These pieces in stoneware and porcelain were fired with a mix of softwoods over five days. I hope you enjoy having a browse of the fruits of our labours!

A very peachy porcelain mug with beautiful surface blushing and a fine smattering of tiny crystals where the wood kiln has worked its magic.

This one is among a few new pots going up on my webshop this Friday 6pm UK time.

Here’s a new shape for me - a woodfired lemon squeezer. My friend Georgie showed me how to make these earlier this year and they were so much fun I made a few for our last woodfiring. The stoneware came out with very varied surfaces. This one with its red swirls reminds me of a boiled sweet.

I’ll be updating my online shop with new woodfired pots next Friday May 29th 6pm BST.

One of my favourite porcelain mugs from our recent woodfiring of the Kigbeare anagama. This one was right on the top shelf of my stack in the middle of the kiln. I placed a rainbow of red wadding in front of it hoping it would leave a flashing mark on the unglazed surface and it worked! I’ll be putting some of these new pots up for sale in my online shop at the end of the month.
