Another personal post from us this week - we hope you don’t mind!
As well as welcoming our beautiful addition to the family recently, Mike has been busy training for a huge challenge this year - he is taking part in the ultramarathon Lakeland 50 in memory of his cousin Ellie Mawdesley, and raising vital funds for The Ellie Mawdsley Foundation
For those who don’t know, Mike’s cousin Ellie lost her battle to an aggressive brain tumour in 2023 and is missed by us all every single day.
Running this ultra marathon is his way of honouring her and supporting the incredible work being done in her name through the Ellie Mawdsley Foundation.
The route includes over 3,000 metres (almost 10,000 feet) of elevation gain across some of the toughest terrain in the country.
Mike has been training as hard as he can - aiming not just to complete the challenge, but to push himself and finish as strong and as fast as he possibly can. Every climb, every mile and every step will be for Ellie 💕
He has pledged to raise £1,000 for Ellie and the foundation, and is over half way there! If you can help him with the final push we, and the foundation, would be so incredibly grateful 🙏 sharing the link to donate in stories and also our bio
I will be updating his progress on the day 🙌
Go Mike! 👏 🏃🏽
The foundation supports brain tumour research, in particular Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG) - a devastating diagnosis that affects children and turns families’ worlds upside down.
As well as funding vital research, the charity supports both the patients who receive this diagnosis and the families walking that heartbreaking journey alongside them.
The route Mike will be taking on the day of the Ultramarathon, we’ll be cheering you on every step of the way Mike 👏🏃
